I usually don’t get too excited about buying rods these days. It’s usually to fill a niche, and this is definitely no different. But when a smokin deal lands in your lap, you just pull out the card and click “proceed to check out”.

I’m not a hardcore swimbaiter by any means. I love throwing em, and I’ve had some good success doing so. But I won’t dedicate the serious time to them like some do.

This might change that a little. F5 put their Departure rod up for $130. So I put an order in for an 806 MH. I literally couldn’t pass up the deal. The wife even told me I couldn’t pass it up

Figured- if it gets me big bass in one tourney, it paid for itself. Solid justification?

Yeah, I try to do all my buying on the off season, and save money to actually go fish during the season.

Have to admit to making more than one impulse buy.  Haven't regretted them, but have wound up with more rods/reels than 3 people need.

OP.  Consider yourself lucky to have made only one impulse buy..................................so far.  :teeth:

Oh, I’ve got plenty of impulse buys. Just wasn’t looking for a new swimbait rod.

But couldn't pass this deal up.

Now if LowDown ever runs a sale like that, I’ll be flat broke.

Never heard of LowDown.  A quick search has me agreeing with you....if I were into swimbait fishing.  :rofl_red:

I've heard good things about F5 so I probably would have jumped on that deal if I saw it. I'm generally pretty level headed and systematic about what I buy but a good sale usually gets me lol.

*Edit: Damnit...the sale is still going on. Why did I have to see this lol. Only thing holding me back is that they don't come with a travel case but I also saw they were restocking travel cases soon....uggggggghhhhh.

I don't blame you at all, any time I run into a good deal at Bass Pro I barely hesitate, knowing that you can't find good rods or reals for cheap prices that often.

Shhhhh.... just let the monkey do it’s thing.

I was saving for a LowDown. But I got to fish an F5 recently. Not mad at all about my purchase.

Just having a LowDown or F5 makes ya wanna throw the big baits as an excuse to use the rods, they’re that nice.

I’m becoming a little antsy about when my rod will get here. Haven’t even decided on a reel, yet.  ?

Thanks for the feedback.

If you are like me, not having decided which reel to use on a rod isn't because you need another reel, but because you have several extra reels to choose from.  :D

They’re not “extras”! They just need a home on a rod!

I have a 13 Concept A that needs a minor repair. I think this is a great reason to finally send it in.

Make no mistake, if it came with a travel case I would not have even hesitated lol.

This rod will probably see minimal time in 3 pieces. A nice feature if I need it, but not why I bought it. I don’t think I’ve ever even seen a picture of the case itself.

Came in Wednesday.

Not sure how how to describe it other than “elegant”. It’s definitely a slick lookin rod. Feels amazing in my hands.

Reel is getting sent off for repairs this week, so idk when I’ll have a chance to chuck anything with it. I might just respool my pitchin reel and throw it on this for a couple of days.

I ordered 2 reels and 3 rods in an impulse buy this week, should arrive tuesday

*You make me feel better when I shop a sale of soft baits & terminal tackle I just have to have , going over the cart three times to remove items after a critical review - then still having a cart total North of $100 !

Kind of a good thing I have to wait on my reel, actually. Going through my swimbait stuff, I don’t have much left anymore. All my huds were beyond repair, and I’ve lost a fair amount of other stuff to snags or pike.

Time to stock the arsenal.
