Kermit Turner Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 I have searched previous threads trying to figure out what lake map card is best for the hummingbird helix mega , but im finding no definite answer . Or at least not enough to steer me any direction. I like the navionics because it does have Missouri and alabama on the maps where as others don't have both states . But im unable to be sure it is compatable with the Helix Mega. Any help or advice is much appreciated! Quote
Russ E Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 i have both navionics and lakemaster. the only reason I have navionics, is some of the lakes I fish are not covered by lakemaster. Here in Kansas and western missouri Lakemaster is much more refined. navionics seems to miss a lot of structure and is not near as accurate on depth. If the lakes you fish are covered by Lkaemaster that is the way I would go. Quote
Fishingchucknj Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 I second the lakemaster if the lakes you fish are on there. I use both though to cover all of my needs. Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted May 16, 2019 Super User Posted May 16, 2019 Lakemaster hands down. You have the option to buy individual Lakemaster maps online and make your own SD card. It requires a SD card (around $7), a computer with an SD card reader, and some technical knowhow. It's cheaper in most cases to buy the regional card unless you only fish 2-3 lakes. Quote
Kermit Turner Posted May 16, 2019 Author Posted May 16, 2019 Thank you guys very much ! im going to look into maybe buying the lakemaster. Do I have to specify hummingbird helix mega when ordering or are they pretty much universal? Quote

If you order from Humminbird you should be fine but if you order from a third party make sure it's the new version. Quote

The smaller ones take the micro sd card Quote

Mike Boitnott Posted May 18, 2019 Posted May 18, 2019 If you are a bass angler and you are going to be fishing inland lakes, reservoirs and rivers Navionics HotMaps Platinum is hard to beat. I have been a user for a long time and I really believe the use of the Map card along with the Navionics App. both of which has made me a better fisherman. I do a lot of homework on my app using my iPad and then will sync the app with my plotter and vise versa for things I discover on the water. If you have any specific questions regarding the app or the map cards please ask, I believe in both. The new Sonar Chart Shading was just released you should check that out, very cool feature. The charts are loaded with helpful features. I use as many tools possible to make me a better angler. Tight Lines, <>< Quote
