tritz18 Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 How do you fish creature baits, what type of rig do you use, and retrieving style? Quote
Super User grimlin Posted July 2, 2007 Super User Posted July 2, 2007 T-rigged with a 3/8oz weight bounce it off the bottom.Speed varys on the fish.Sometimes they want it slow other times they want that fast action.I usally start out slow and work from there.Works best when thrown in covers like tree stumps, rocks or drop offs. mattm Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 T-rigged with a 1/8oz weight hopped of the bottom most of the time. Also work great on c-rigs. I always use the lightest weight I can get away with. Quote
Bud Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I have been using the kreature in color 330 for the past 3 month and very little of any thing else. I use spinning equipment with #6 pound line and a #4 worm hook. Rig it weightless and backward. I toss and let it sit for a few second then with rod pull it about a foot and let fall on slack line. PS make sure you have a good hold on rod for I had one try to take it away from me this morning. Quote

Also, along a weedline I have been having some success fishing it like a spinnerbait with a steady retrieve and an occasional twitch. Quote

ARe you talking about the gy kreature? I have thought of hooking it backwards but, I like the way the front tentacles vibrate when hooked forward. I t-rig it with an 8th oz bullet weight. I usually work it slow hops off the bottom but if that does not work I will try slow retrieve with little twitches, that is when the tentacles vibrate nicely. I also reel a little faster and it will work just like a buzzbait. Quote
Bud Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Yes the GY Kreature. Their are dozen of way to fish this thing. In the last 3 month I have caught 134 bass using it. In Ky lake 330 is the right color for me. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 what size hook are u guys using. I had success w/ a # 3. I was thinking of trying a # 4. I normally slow hop mine. Do you think this most resembles a crawfish??? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 3, 2007 Super User Posted July 3, 2007 4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hook. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted July 3, 2007 Super User Posted July 3, 2007 RW, that's interesting about crankin' the creature. I gave a couple of packs of Fat Ikas to a buddy of mine, and showed him how to rig them. He came back and said they were one the best baits he'd ever used. I said, yeah, that reverse rigging is deadly. He said, I wasn't using them like that, I rigged them like a tube, put a split-shot ahead of it, and cranked it along slowly. Caught a whole bunch of fish on an outside weed edge. Go figure. Cheers, GK Quote
