Does anyone know if this is a thing for the Shimano SLX? I'm absolutely in love with it, and I currently have it spooled up with 15lb fluorocarbon main line as I've been fishing a lot of clear water and hard structure lately. But I want to be able to use it with braid main line too (personally I'm not a huge fan of connecting knots like using braid to fluoro leader), but without having to buy a whole new reel for it. I have a Fuego CT that I used to use on the rod that my SLX is on, but frankly I like the SLX better than the Fuego though I'm content continuing to use it when I want to use braid.

Thanks!

SLX spool is available from Shimano for 29.00 + 6.00 shipping. 877-577-0600. The reel can be bought on e-bay for 80-90.00. Just a matter of cost vs. convenience. (and an excuse to buy another rod as well).

I have purchased several spare spools for my reels both spinning and baitcasting. I did it over the winter months for the same reasons you mention. I like to fish different lines in different situations but I want to use the same reels. It's simple to pop off a spool and replace it with another filled with a different line between trips.

Lew's customer service has been great for this purpose. I now know some of their support staff by name from ordering spools for $5 each.

My last order was spare spools for my Mach 2, Mach Crush and Custom Pro spinning reels.
