Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted May 12, 2019 Global Moderator Posted May 12, 2019 I’ve never really seen many bass on a bed except in ponds and shallow rivers. This year I’ve been seeing bunches, either the conditions are right this year or maybe I’m just getting better at finding them. In a total twist of irony, there is a bed right next to my dock! Complete with both a male and female bass! I think the female is 2-3 lbs and the male is about 1. My buddy tried to catch them for 2-3 minutes, they weren’t having it haha. I think we would have tried a little harder if it was 7 lbs....... 3 Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted May 12, 2019 Author Global Moderator Posted May 12, 2019 74 I think is what we saw yesterday. I have been seeing them since it got to about 65 1 Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted May 12, 2019 Super User Posted May 12, 2019 One can definitely get better at seeing them, but visibility conditions make a big difference. I see the pale bed in your photo. Interestingly, in my waters, bed size is often indicative of male size, usually about 1.5X the males length, depending on how zealous he is at clearing. Quote

papajoe222 Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 I'm still waiting for the first wave of fish movement here. The water temp has been holding right around 56 for a couple of weeks now and that's surface temp. It seems as though they are willing to sit in their deep, winter spots regardless of what the calendar says. How about sending some of that warmer water up this way and come late July and August, I'll send some of our cooler water down by you? Quote
