I have an older made in japan round quantum iron and a quantum heat that's pretty much the same reel just with a different model name.My wife has been wanting to go to this catfish pond that has some monster catfish in them I'm talking 40 pounders.I know this ain't a catfish forum but my question is do u guys think these reels would hold up to fish this size? The rods they are on are 6ft 6 meduim heavy they are very stout rods.I just trying to save some money and use gear I already have since I'm on a budget these days.

It’ll be fine. I used old irons throughout the 90’s on catfish & buffalo and black and red drum in saltwater. Tough as nails

I thought so too and yea I've put mine thru a lot and it still keeps going probably one of the best reels quantum has ever made not the farthest casting but definitely one of the toughest
