Super User everythingthatswims Posted May 12, 2019 Super User Posted May 12, 2019 I tied into a gorgeous largemouth a few days ago here in Virginia. Bushwhacking my way down the bank on a little place I have tried and tried to connect with a big one on for years! It was more like a spot-n-stalk archery hunt than bass fishing. I think this fish was near a bed but she certainly wasn't locked down, and I never saw a male. One well placed cast from behind a tree after a bit of crawling did the trick, she nosed up on my jig and popped it like they never do when they are cruising like that in the spring. I'll take it! I didn't have a tape measure, but my scale bounced between 8.97 and 9.01lbs, I'm calling it a 9! 25 Quote

Super User Paul Roberts Posted May 12, 2019 Super User Posted May 12, 2019 Sometimes spot-n-stalk is the only way. Bass are way more aware of what's going on around them, above and below water, than it seems many people realize. Sight-fishing can sure teach us a lot, and helps me realize that a lot of the same reactions to our lures, or presence, are going on even when we can't seen them. Looks like she's still carrying eggs. 1 Quote
