So to go along with the lure swap I propose an organized mold swap. My vision is members in good standing can post what molds they would like to use and what the have in their inventory. Everything should be out in the open that way no-one tries to scam anyone. For example I will post a list of molds I have and a list of molds I could use. The recipient pays the shipping charges both ways and it is agreed upon that the can keep the mold for a defined period of time which I would put at 90 days but it could vary. This way members who would like some baits but cannot justify the cost of a mold can pour what they need without having to buy a mold. Personally I have like 30 molds and only 2 I would not send as I use them all the time.

So what does everyone think about this? Additionally if someone is a senior member but does not have any molds to trade they should not be left out.

I wish we could add bullet molds along with the fishing jig heads ;)

If you want to borrow something just let me know and I will see what I have.

We do this with local members in the KC area all the time. I have a couple I can't loan out but quite a few others that I have no issues with loaning. I think 30 days would probably be plenty long enough loan out time though.

What's the cost of shipping both ways for a Do-It mold? I am thinking it is about 8 dollars each way for USPS minimum.    Couple times doing that and a guy could just about buy one.

Well a mold is like $40 and you have to pay shipping for it. Figured if someone just wanted to try a mold before buying this would work.

In some ways yes, i agree with this if its a mold you would use repeatedly over time, then its probably smarter to invest in buying one. However, if its something you dont use alot of, go through alot of, special scenario bait. This is still a great value.

My example of this is the weighted worm hooks with the screw lock. I can pour enough in an hour to last 10 years.

You can ship a mold in a small flat rate box by taking the screws out of the handle, I've done it several times.

This would be for molds you'd like to use, but don't use enough of to justify buying. For example, I have a big spinnerbait mold. If someone wants to make a couple dozen 3/4 and 1 ounce spinnerbaits, that's maybe enough to last them years, but certainly not enough to justify buying the mold. Or maybe someone just wants to try a mold to see if they like it before buying it.

So i know i inserted bullet molds into this conversation but good molds are between 80 and 110 bucks.  That's a lot of shipping costs if your a dedicated caster and or just want to try a bullet without the larger commitment.  There is a Lyman 38/357 mold out there that everyone raves about and i would like to try.  Considering that i would like to borrow the handles as well that would be an even larger investment.  I dont see myself running out and buying the town :0   For those that don't know mold handles are not universal.

I have a friend that re-loads and I just  get rounds from him. If you are looking for a specific mold just post here and if I have it I will send it to you. Besides Do=it molds I have several Shawn Collins molds that are like $140 each I could send.

I'm going to have to go through and see which ones I have for sure. There's some I know I have and some that I'm pretty sure I still have but I've sold and loaned out a few that I might not have in my possession currently so I'd have to check and see.

Ones I know I have;

Football shakyhead

round shakyhead

round weedless jig mold 5/16, 3/8, 7/16

brush jig large and small sizes

weedless standup football jig with wire keeper

weedless snootie jig 1/8, 3/16, 1/4

swimbait jig mold with the double keepers

swinging football head, small size

Tapered Tube TX mold, good for making stupid tube heads

Herring head jig, medium sizes

Jigging spoon mold (slab spoon type)

Slip jig

weighted hook

drop shot finesse weight

H spinnerbait mold, large size

Collin's Hidden eye flipping jig

Pretty sure I have the Shad head with wire keeper mold also

I've got a few I have to leave off because I sell so many I can't afford to loan the molds out for any length of time, sorry.

That maybe tough if he is like me? I know the Collins mold I have for jigs is the main one I use and need to pour a ton of jigs for the upcoming shows in the area.

Yeah i figured that to be the case. I just really want to tie a few up and see how they fish before i commit to buying a mold.  Heck even if i could buy some unpainted jig heads from either of you that would be great too.

PM me your info and what weights and hook sizes. I am constantly pouring these and have some laying around in various stages of build. Once I figure out how to correctly make a spincast mold I am going to sell off most of my hand pour molds.
