Jake Kleindl Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Has anyone been on Ouachita since all the rain??? I'm thinking about going down this weekend but have no idea what the lake is doing. Quote
moguy1973 Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Looks like it's about 4' above full pool and a mess https://www.hotsr.com/news/2019/may/09/corps-of-engineers-closes-campsites-ram/?news Quote

I wonder what the water clarity will be like once you get out of the river? I love high water with decent clarity. Quote
ohboyitsrobby Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 I live here. The waters real clear to be in the bushes. It's kind of in a postspawn funk though with the high water. The cranking ledges and such in the rivers are too deep as are a lot of the lower lake topwater and swimbait points. We won a tourney last Saturday on flat shallow brush points with a t-rigged red bug trick worm. If you decide to come good luck. Quote

Thank you for the info, with this knowledge I will probably just fish a little pot luck benefit tournament on my home lake. We are 8 1/2 feet high but the water is just perfect for a flipping bite. ohboyitsrobby Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 It'd be different if they'd stabilize the lake a little. They're constantly sucking the bottom out of it. If they'd just let it be for a week I imagine it'd be great fishing. It's just tough with the water level fluctuating every day. 1 Quote
