Hello Bass Resource!

Used to post on here a bunch a couple of years ago but life got in the way and stopped posting. Still have been bass fishing and as always, on the quest for a PB. Finally got one a month ago but in classic fashion did not have a scale. It was taped at a hair over 20 inches and wanted to know what weight you guys think this girl was. Easily the thickest bass I've ever caught, even though it wasn't crazy crazy long.

I know I'll never have an exact weight without a scale but let's hear some guesses from the pros! I know a lot of you put fish on the scale and are really good at eyeballing sizes.

Thanks guys and happy bassin'!

Great Bass ~

Really healthy looking.

Weight guesses can be tricky.

If you're 4 ft tall and a buck ten, then it's an 4 and a half.

Conversely, if you're Andre' The Giant, with a watermelon for a noggin, then it's an 8 and a half.

If you're somewhere in between, then I'd say 6 and a quarter is a safe bet.

Either way, congrats on the new Personal Best.

PB's are Always a Blast.

Thanks! Truth be told I didn't even realize it was a PB (just had a feeling it was a special fish) until I went home and looked at the photos...and then compared it to my previous PB photos.

I'm 5'5" and roughly 165lbs for anyone else that wants to take a stab at the weight.

Buy a set of scales. I have no idea why people chase fish and are curious about what they weigh yet they won't buy a set of scales. If you are actually interested to know what the fish weighs, buy a set of scales. There is no way to tell from a pic and all anyone can do is guess so it doesn't even matter in the end what the guesses are. Buy a set of scales!

I would say up to 5lb easily, that a pretty hefty bass.

Lesson learned the hard way. I also caught my PB LMB decades ago. It was before before cellphones so all I have is a pic from a disposable camera of it. I owned one of those de-liar spring scales and there was a scale on my fishin magician gadget but didn’t have either that day.

Nowadays I don’t leave for a fishing trip without a scale. Bank, boat or kayak doesn’t matter it’s with me. It floats so I don’t worry about losing it or getting it wet.

Grats BTW nice Bass! My guess is it’s just shy of 5 pounds.

A little over 20" and fat will put her in the 5-5.5 pound range.

Now go to Ebay and buy a luggage scale for $5 so you don't have to wonder next time.
