LuckyJ96 Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 So, I've been getting into fishing big swimbaits for the biggest bass in the lake, and I've been somewhat successful so far. I've caught A handful of nice fish from 5-7lbs on various glide baits so far. I have 8 inch hudds, I have a 9 inch slammer, I have lunker punkers, bull shads, a triple trout, Deps 250, Gantarel (none of which I've caught a fish on yet) and some of the other more popular big swimbaits on the market, and I'm looking to add the next glide bait to the lineup. My favorite big swimbaits so far are glide baits and multi jointed hard baits, so if anyone has any suggestions in those two categories, feel free to share, but for those of you who have tried them, which would be the better buy between the Roman Made Negotiator, and the Megabass I-Slide 262? I've been eyeing both for awhile, but I want to hear from guys who have actually fished these lures before pulling the trigger on another $100+ glide. Is the negotiator worth the extra money over the I-slide? Also, if anyone has tried the ABT suicide glide, how does it compare to the Megabass? Quote
Big Swimbait Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 I love big baits, but I have a hard time paying Roman Made money. I'm sure they work, but after the bait monkey got a lot of my money, I have found that the lesser price baits perform just as well if not better. But to answer your question, I would buy an S-Waver 200 in any of the trout patterns before the 2 you mentioned. It just gets bit & it's less than $50.00. Another option that has performed well for me is the big Shine Glide & it's even less $. 1 Quote

I've used the 7 inch shine glides and caught big ones on it too. I have a 200 size S waver in light trout and I have a magnum shine glide now, but no fish yet on either of them. The waver has very tight action, but it casts well. The shine glide helicopters badly but I like the action better. Looking to bridge the gap between the two and get a big glide bait that both casts and fishes well. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted May 12, 2019 Super User Posted May 12, 2019 I'm a big MB fan but have to admit I've been disappointed with the I-slide. IME, the magnet doesn't consistently pull the hooks dead center like they'd naturally be in the absence of the magnet, and that makes me a bit nervous if a fish comes up from the opposite side. Paint and quality of the build is otherwise spot on though. The Suicide Glides are very nice and IMO in the same ballpark as the Gancrafts I throw. I do not have any RM's up to this point, but if it's in your budget it would be tough coming up with a reason not to pull the trigger. If you like the bull shads it may be worth adding a Matt Lures Hardgill to your collection. 1 Quote
Drew03cmc Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 The Nego is small compared to the 262. The 262 is not a glide bait, per se, and is often worked like a jerkbait. The Negotiator is a finesse glide, requiring less than 15lb test line to work right. Quote
Scarborough817 Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 nego is smaller than the 262 but, it takes a while to learn the 262 and very confusing when you start to fish it, i used it more so for pike than bass, since the jerkbait like action got them to bite. if you want my honest opinion, keep to what you already have. yes trying new big baits is fun but its better to fish the ones you already have confidence in. i have switched this year and i am stocked up on 250's and 175's for glides. i try to keep it to 1-3 baits in a category that i have confidence in, it saves time and really stops you from thinking about what you should be throwing. Darn thing won't stay down Quote
anderb54 Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 You've got a pretty legit collection so far. The Gancraft glidebaits are well worth the money, in my opinion. The few times I've had the opportunity to get a Negotiator I've passed it up, because my Jointed Claw 178 is just too productive to take off. That Gantarel gets straight up bit... Keep throwing it.
