Dave22 Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 Here in SW Ohio and across southern Ohio everyone I’ve talked to has been struggling. I got on a good prespawn bite for a solid hour a few weeks ago and have been struggling ever since. I’ve missed probably six fish on the jig and they won’t even hit anything else. Fluctuations in water level and unstable temperatures have messed up the spawning times and consistencies I believe Quote
MossyBackDaddy Posted May 16, 2019 Author Posted May 16, 2019 I've been reduced to hitting up the golf course ponds near my house. Shallow water uneducated fish should make me feel better. **Sniff Sniff** Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted May 17, 2019 Super User Posted May 17, 2019 Well, we are loaded and will leave at 3am tomorrow for our annual trip to Lake St Clair. It's the highlight of my fishing season. 1 Quote
FishinBuck07 Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 Good luck Toxic! Hope you have a blast! I am really struggling in NE Ohio also, can't seem to find the fish. I can't even seem to find the crappie when I take a break from bass. I have friends that just keep sending me pics of fish they are catching in the same area though! Guess the fishing gods have an issue with me this year! Haha 1 Quote
Super User NHBull Posted May 17, 2019 Super User Posted May 17, 2019 With a very late ice-out and water Temps below 50, I feel lucky to average 2 good fish a day. Lip less and jerks bringing my only success. .....it is still better than being snowbound. Quote
MossyBackDaddy Posted May 18, 2019 Author Posted May 18, 2019 Finally got the stank off. Here are a couple from yesterday's trip to a small lake/pond. A probable 3 and 2 pounder respectively. Not huge but better than dinks. Quote

Super User N Florida Mike Posted May 19, 2019 Super User Posted May 19, 2019 It’s been a great spring here , numbers have been great with some big uns mixed in , but it’s fixing to slow down. Summer is almost here. Supposed to be 97 a couple days this week coming up. I’ll be switching to mostly early morning tactics til fall . Quote
