What's the concern?  Rod 'ratings' are far more important than rod length.

What hook and weight are you planning to use?

I caught 2 yesterday using a 6'10" SLX medium xfast.

Medium heavy with a 3,0 screw lock. The Trokar brand. 1/8oz.

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at here?

I have a 7 ft and 6'6. I am curious if one could fish a small swimbait on a 6'6. I have always seen youtube say that longer rods are better for swimbaits. Furthermore, when I bank fish, I can't walk one step without getting the end of the 7ft stuck in a tree or maneuvering it around my house.

The standard these days has gone to a 7' rod, even upwards of 7'6". 15-20 years ago, 6'6" was the most popular length in bass fishing. The added length certainly helps you get more distance when casting, but to fish a 3.8" Keitech with an 1/8oz Weedless keel hook, you would be find with a 6'6" rod that's M or MH in power. A longer rod is only going to hurt you more if you have low hanging trees in the area.

If you have crowded banks due to tress, I would invest in some waders to help get you off the bank a little bit and out into the water some.

Almost ALL my rods are 6'6

Fishing, cranks, spinnerbaits, T-rig, topwater, etc..

My only longer rods are dropshot and flipping

Do you like to fish bank?

I have a friend that is on the height challenged side at 5'5" and only uses rods 6ft. 6in. and under. A rod's power and action are more important than length no matter what the application.  I prefer a 6ft rod for fishing my Spooks and a 6ft. 3in. rod I custom built for spinnerbait fishing.

Bottom line; Use what's comfortable for you and gets the job done.

My most used rod length is 6'6". I have caught more fish on Keitechs with a 5'6" M casting rod and 6' ML spinning rod than anything else, but that's because I used them more when I tossed the shorter sticks. Now, I find myself grabbing a spinnerbait, buzzbait or chatterbait on a 6'6" MH stick and enjoying the heck out of slinging the blades around. Finesse to me, is situational fishing. I have a 6'6" M and ML spinning rod that I can fish Ned, light paddletails, wacky rigs, etc on, but don't use them much. Use what you want and don't be so concerned what others are using.
