Super User fishballer06 Posted May 6, 2019 Super User Posted May 6, 2019 That's one of those old sayings that your Grandpa tells you and it's so honest that you can take it to the bank. Quote

Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted May 6, 2019 Global Moderator Posted May 6, 2019 Anybody know the scientific explanation for this? I’ve always wondered. Quote
Super User WRB Posted May 6, 2019 Super User Posted May 6, 2019 Red sky in the morning sailors take warning, red sky at night sailors delight. Comes from approaching low pressure storm fronts and is the opposite for anglers. Tom 2 Quote
Tucson Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 This actually goes back to biblical times.......gotta be some truth in it. I once read a meteorological perspective on this which presented the facts behind the saying. Of course, I forgot the details in a few microseconds but it is scientifically valid. Quote
Super User WRB Posted May 6, 2019 Super User Posted May 6, 2019 It goes back to biblical times to predict approaching weather systems from the west and we have the same west to east weather patterns in most of the USA, except some of the northern states. Approaching low pressure system equals falling barometer, good for fishing, clearing skies equal high pressure or rising barometer post frontal conditions tougher conditions for fishing....so it's the opposite for anglers. All the cows on the left side of the road were standing up. The cows on the right were much better at predicting the fishing conditions. lol 2 2 Quote
