papajoe222 Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 Anyone fishing the southeast Wisc. lakes this week-end? With the late thaw and the cold rain, I'm guessing the water temps. are still in the low 50s. I was planning on hitting either Geneva, or Delavan this coming Wed. or Thurs., but if I'm correct about the colder than normal water temps, I think I'll hold off a couple of weeks. Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted May 6, 2019 Super User Posted May 6, 2019 I fished SW Wisconsin (Near Durand) so don’t know if this helps... Water temps started at sunrise approx 49 and rose to 52 and the air temps and sun got to around 70. But little/no weed growth. Seems we are a week to ten days behind usual (whatever that is Slow rolled Colorado blade spinnerbaits and Chatterbaits seem to get most of the activity. Nothing on jerk baits either hard or soft... We're you fishing the Chippewa River or one of the small lakes over there? Funny that you had no luck with a jerkbait, I fished a few small lakes in the Eau Claire are and the only lure I caught em on was a jerkbait! Even a couple hungry Brook trout decided to smack the big Xcallibur Xs4. Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted May 6, 2019 Super User Posted May 6, 2019 I tried to stay away from the rivers given the high water levels. So I fished Lake Eau Galle, 300 acre smaller body of water. Bite was decent for the first couple hours after sunrise, then way too many boats showed up on a lake this size and the bite died. Quote
Hawkeye21 Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Anyone have any reports from the Madison chain of lakes? Quote
