Sooo I was out today and sadly all the “fisherman” and out of towners are comming in hoards on Lake Erie. I don’t mind other people fishing but the amount of rude disrespect people astound me. I hahve been fishing since ice out to try and figure out what the fish want and where. And do all my research to get the bite. So I get out there and notice nobody catching fish .. so I go to where I know they are and use what’s I know works and then boats just start comming over. This one boat literally was 10 feet from me. Casting in my direction. They literally run the boat exactly over the area I was casting and scared the fish.  SO I go to another spot and they follow me ! THey kept following me the whole time till I said something.  Then they had the nerve to ask what I was using. Every single person came up to me and said “hey what are you using “ nobody tried to talk or introduce the slee for bed be nice.  They just wanted to fish where I was and know exactly what I’m using. I’m all for helping but I take the time to find out what is working first.  I’m also polite and make small

tslk and introduce myself .. then the other kayakers were out and just rowing all over. Once again this one guy is just coasting right over the area I’m casting! I casted my line probably

within 2 feet of him where it almost landed on him and he just says “hey what you using let me know “ ... no go away. Uuugghhhh man people have no respect .. nobody wanted to fish they just want to know what I’m using.  And to take over the area I’m in .. Lake Erie is big , go someone that’s not 10 feet from me and not fan casting all around my kayak please

I was at a job related conference, Tuesday-Thursday, in Buffalo right on Lake Erie. I would look longingly at the lake from my hotel window wishing I could fish.

Googans. We all have to deal with them. Today at my local pond for example. I had a section all to myself. Only a couple of people on the other side. Once I caught a Bass the couple “relocated” to where I was. Asking what I caught. They parked less than 10 feet from me.The choice is confrontation or moving on. In my youth I chose the later. With age comes wisdom so I moved on. So did they after a brief time since they caught nothing, and I moved back in to catch my last two fish of the session.

We say the same thing about the northerners that come down every winter to the Stick Marsh with no respect for anyone, or anything.  It's an epidemic!  Lol?

I didn't mean anything about you starting the thread. I was talking about the whole "northerner" thing. I hate that people paint an entire group with such a broad brush. You are welcome to come down to Okie land anytime and fish.

Now you know how many South Floridians feel when some snowbirds come down here and present less than acceptable behavior. I can talk for hours about this subject but I will make it short...not much you can do about disrespectful out of towners so it would be best to focus on your own fishing and fish in other locations to avoid these type of people. You can also not talk to them and ignore them, that tends to make most of them go away.

I am vacationing in Central Florida in July. Visiting with my good friend who lives there and fishing with him. We are hiring a local guide to take us fishing for some LMB and pumping some money into the local economy.

Snowbirds, or summerbirds, in this case ain’t all bad. ?

Not all snowbirds are bad, and disrespectful, but many that come down are just like the rude guys in the original post about Lake Erie!  Rudeness is not limited to any one body of water unfortunately!

You really love vacationing in Florida from what I have read in your previous post and I do not blame you. Florida is known as ''The fishing capital of the world'' and people from all the states visit Florida for fishing. Many of these tourist eventually move down to live here so they can be closer to the state they love. As for ''pumping money into the local economy'' we have no problem with money, in fact Florida is a very wealthy state in both money and natural resources. Floridians have no problem with snowbirds that are respectful and drive well but we do dislike the ones that have the ''I am better than you attitude''  and other aggressive behaviors which are very common from some snowbirds. We also do not like the snowbirds that break the law by speeding, not putting the turn signal, tailgating less than 10 feet away while driving +65mph, and other obnoxious behaviors we have observed from tourist. Hope you have a good time in your next Florida vacation and hopefully the guide is good enough to put you on a 8 pound or better bass.
