Anyone have any experience with this rod?

Absolutely LOVE G-Loomis. As one of their higher end rods this one is supreme. The only issue ive ever had with mine was the insert coming out of the top eye, but I think that was due to my lack of awareness. LOL

How do you fish it? Do you cast and drag or make short pitches vertically? I mostly fish jigs a t-rigs with short pitches into weeds.

The lakes around here are mostly based on deep ledges and brush piles, so I typically am casting a jig a mile and short hopping it on the bottom with one to two second intervals between hops. Big 3/4 or 1/2 oz. footballs are king on my home lake, and when I say brush piles, I mean very small odd things not giant conservation piles.

I see many complain about this model being very tip heavy and they move to the 894c instead. I have an 894, I have never fished the 895. There is a thread on tackle tour about the 895c within the 1st few pages about it.

There are some favorable reviews tho, some info in here and there was a detailed review but I can't find the bassresource link, hopefully the mods are ok with the tt links, if not they can edit it.

I've heard more positive things about the 894

I got a line on a used one for a pretty good deal so I snagged it. Upon first impressions, this rod's a monster. It is tip heavy but then so are my other heavy rods and it's never really bothered me for the way that I fish them. I won't get to try it until the 4th weekend in June (bass opener) so I was just looking for some feedback.

Tip heavy or tip ridged? Heavy suggest an unbalanced condition whereas tip stiffness is less flex making the overall rod feel more ridged.

Tip heavy can be counter balanced easily by how you hold the rod, can't stiffness.

The tip is quite lively. Not stiff by any means. Once she gets into the back bone though it feels like you've hit a 2x4. I personally like that feeling in a heavy rod.

When I had all NRX's, I noticed as said many times above that the 895 was tip heavy.  My 905 Conquest is much more balanced...

Whenever, but I probably won't be going there much anymore.  Unless I have just one day to fish and want to get my line stretched.  I've got kinda burnt out of Cedar, but it's a good little lake I can go to can go to and catch 3lb's - 5lb's at will.

You would think KY would have built this "trophy bass lake" closer to the TN state line and stocked it with Florida strains....

I've been focusing my efforts on other lakes the last several years where DD's live.

Feel free to shoot me a PM, I don't want to hijack this guys NRX thread anymore...lol.

In the last 3 to 4 months I've did countless research on 894 and 895 wondering how one compares to the other.  I ended up with both and the 895 is tip heavy but easily balanced out by chair leg cap inserted with quarters.  It's perfect for 3/4 to 1oz jigs.  I like a little tip on my rod as I bank fish and cast out deep so 895 is the perfect beast.  894 is more sensitive out of the two but it's ideal for 1/2 to 3/4 range.

I have 5 of the NRX and several GLX .  I absolutely love this

for pitching heavy vegetation and pads here in central

florida . I used to

think there would never be another rod I would need for this application because my 7’11 glx was so good... no comparison ..
