Some may know about this, some may not, just thought I would throw it out there. I was having problems with multiple z-man original chatterbaits not vibrating due to the blade and the jig head binding. I have heard of others having the same issue,  I took the blade off the jig head, just bend the eye on jig slightly to remove blade, took the wire line tie off, drilled and enlarged the original holes in blade to an 1/8 inch. Reinstalled blade on jig head, then put a duo clip in place of of original line tie,  I have no more binding issues at all. I hope this benefits some of y’all.

I recommend buying one of their better chatterbait models like the Custom model from Tackle Warehouse.

This works well, but at what time does the effort in upgrading a bait cost more than the price of buying the one that is two dollars more?

No bladed jig slow rolls better or comes in more color varieties than a Fogy from @Siebert Outdoors in my opinion, and the price is just icing on the cake.  I applaud the ops ability to fix the problem, but why buy from a company that makes a crappy one and sells it cheap and then tells you that if you want one that actually works you can buy their "better" models for significantly more money?

The reason I made modifications is because I got a bunch of the original chatterbaits for next to nothing, and I love tinkering and tweaking any and everything from lures to lawn mowers. Just thinking if anyone had an abundance of the original chatterbaits this would solve there issues of binding up. Just trying to help others in case they had the same issues

I have the exact same issue.  I'll try out your suggestion.  Thanks for the tip.

Seems like he was trying to offer sound advice for anyone that wants/needs it. Dont see how suggesting he spend more on a "better" bait has any relevance.  Thanks for sharing as I too have several of the original.
