I'm looking to expand my rod and reel line up. I was thinking about buying a heavy action rod for big baits. Are there any out there with a budget friendly price of 60-70 dollars?

Heavy is a power my friend.  Might check the for sale section.

My wife has a Lew’s laser SG1 that she picked up for $50. She seems to really like it.

Big baits as in swimbaits, umbrella rigs, magnum cranks, or what? If you're looking to throw swimbaits and a-rigs on a budget I'd look into a bass pro shops musky rod. For magnum cranks I wouls go to americanlegacyfishing.com and get a lews david fritts perfect cranking rod 7'6 heavy power.

I used an Abu Vendetta 7'6 Heavy Fast rated for up to 1.5oz. I believe I purchased it for $73 shipped. Only con was an eye replacement after 5 months at the tip. I'm pretty tough on my gear so that might have been the culprit. Used it for frogging, flipping, and smaller swimbaits like Gantarel Jr and S Waver 168.

Check out the TW clearance on the Exage. Not sure which models they have left, but they are $100 rods marked down to $79 or so. Reviews have been decent on them. Also, take a look at the SLX.

Tatula XT is what I’d call a “heavy action” rod. But very lightweight and well made for the price. Can be found around $70 now. They are way underrated in their advertised power and action stats. They fish heavier than advertised.

A fair question is what do you mean by "heavy" and what do you mean by "big baits?"

Makes a difference . . .
