Marc Tyler Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 I'm looking to add another baitcaster to the mix. I already own a shimano curado k 200, and was looking at picking up a daiwa tatula 200 ( I could get another curado k, but I like variety if it is as good or better of a reel in the 200 range) what do you guys think of the tatula over the curado k, ( brake preference/performance, build quality and longevity) this will be for bass fishing Quote
waymont Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 The Tatula 100 or 150 would be a better match for you if you want something closer to a Curado K. Both are really nice reels. The Tatula 200 is a high line capacity reel. Unless that's what you want, I would go with the 100 or 150. Quote
Super User PhishLI Posted April 30, 2019 Super User Posted April 30, 2019 If line capacity is your concern then go for the 150. It has plenty. It also has Magforce Z. The 200 doesn't. Quote

A 150 would work just fine, I will have to change the title, thanks for the recamendation! Quote
Junger Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 If this reel is going on a dedicated rod where you're not changing the lure much, and you're comfortable with Shimano brakes already, get the K. I personally like the form factor of the K more than the Tatula, and it just feels more well built. 2 Quote
Gorris317 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 I went through this same issue a few months back. I ended up getting a Curado K, but before purchasing I was using a Tat CT. The Curado feels a lot more refined and smooth compared to the Tatula. There was also less play in the handle, which might have just been the particular model I had. I actually don't see any difference in performance between the Tatula 150 and the Tatula CT (basically same reel with a matte black paint job and the white spider). If you want to save some money you could pick up the CT on ebay for less than $100 at the moment. I'm very impressed with the Curado and will be adding more later on this year. Quote

I have four few Tatula (SV and CTs). One of them has slightly more play in the handle than the Curado K and the others less. I largely agree that the CT is probably a better buy than the 100/150. The CT should hold enough line unless you're using some really fat line, plus the 100/150/200 don't even have the Magforce Z braking system (some people have said the 150 does, but not on Daiwa's website so I'm not 100% sure about that). The old Tatula was called Tatula 100 also. There is also a new Tatula 100 that is smaller than the old Tatula 100 and Tatula CT. All of then have Magforce Z. The Tatula 200 is a matte paint Tatula HD and does not have Magforce Z. I'm glad Daiwa decided to not make it confusing at all...... 2 Quote

It is smooth, I will give it that, but it has a lot of rattle, the line guide is super loose,,,, and it just does bot have the feel of quality that the curado k has. Looks like I will be picking up another curado k or tranx 200. Quote
