I've read up (a little bit) and can't find any differences between the Daiwa Legalis LT vs the slightly more expensive Fuego LT...other than the Fuego has the Magseal. i am not seven sure the magseal is important to me for freshwater?

I need to pick up another 2500 series reel and trying to decide between these two. The Fuego has been great, so the Legalis should be great if they are the same reel except for magseal.

Difference is around $30 right now ($70 vs $99) but periodically find one or the other at a better price on ebay. For example my Fuego LT 2500D-XH (faster reel retrieve) was $77 when I bought it 6 weeks ago. I assume prices are higher now due to fair weather fishermen buying more stuff right now.

I’m no spinning reel guru, but I do own both in the 2500xh size. I had first bought the legalis, then more recently, the fuego. In my hands, I really can’t feel any difference performance wise and I actually prefer the legalis cosmetically. Since my fuego will probably never sea salt I wish I’d saved a few bucks and just gotten a second legalis

looks like the legalis is around $50 on eBay right now

I have one of each too, although not the same size so it is hard to compare. I have the little Legalis 1000 on an ultralight rod, the Fuego 2500 is for bass.

Not sure, but I have been very happy with my Legalis 2500 for stream trout fishing.  Very smooth reel all around.

You might also consider the new Regal LT-$10 cheaper than the Legalis at retail, not sure about Ebay.  I got my Legalis for about $52 on there.

The Fuego does not share the same spool as Exceler.

Exceler and Legalis share the same spool- no bearing on the spool support.

The Fuego and Regal both have bearing supported spools.

The Regal LT is a great buy if you don't mind a little extra weight.

Thanks for the quick reply, mrpao. Both Fuego and Regal have bearing supported spools, you say. Yet the designs are different so that they can't share the spool? Do I understand you, right?

Thanks again in advance!

I'm not for certain but I think the Regal LT and Fuego LT spools are interchangeable. I haven't tried it myself because I dont have a Fuego LT.  Both these reels have the smaller bearing supported spools.

The tatula LT and Ballistic LT have larger bearings on the spool support.

Pretty good video on the Legalis

Victor does a great job comparing reels and user reviews.
