Dxdger30 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 So I fished in my first ever tournament this weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks, the Big Bass Bash. It was an absolute blast even though I didn’t win any money. The most important thing is, is I did catch fish! I can’t wait to fish in another. Hopefully the family friend I fished with asks me back out to fish in more tournaments because this opened a can of worms for me! Anyone else in here fish it? 3 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 30, 2019 Global Moderator Posted April 30, 2019 I didn't fish this one but I fished one last spring. My buddy weighed in a spot that went 3.01 pounds ? That .01 cost him $500 that could have really made the weekend. I was the dink master, not sure I ever caught one over 15". He was the heartbreak kid. On top of that spot, he hooked a fish in 30' of water on a 1oz jig off a dock cable that was heavy and coming up slow, we were sure he had the fish he needed. Turned out to be a 5lb channel cat that was tangled in about 50' of light line that included a few crappie jigs, 2 bobbers, and it also had a rogue stuck in the side of his face. I've never seen a fish in such a mess. 1 2 Quote

Also, he caught a 4+ and ended up finishing in 36th place in the time slot he checked in, the dummy didn't buy a bonus shirt... Talk about bad luck! Him and his brother still got some checks. Quote
Frisbie385 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Me and a good friend of mine were there this weekend. Our big one of the weekend came Sunday afternoon. 2.88. That tournament is a blast to fish and I think this is now our 6th one we have fished together. We also have had a few heartbreaks during that tournament. 1. This weekend my buddy caught something big off the main channel that broke his crankbait off. We never got to see it but when he reeled his line in he noticed a bunch of slime at the bottom. Made us think a catfish broke him off. 2. 2 tournaments ago I caught a really nice fish that took a few minutes to get in only to find out that it was a 12lb drum. Half hour later I caught a 4.69 that paid a couple hundred bucks. 1 Quote
