bassh8er Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 I’m an admitted Broncos fan and Chiefs hater, but I’ve been an adamant anti-Hill guy since he was drafted. Ray Rice got kicked out of the league because a video of him punching a woman surfaced. Tyreek strangled and punched his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach and not only got drafted, but became a fan favorite in K.C. I’ve been to every Bronco game in K.C. with fans chanting, “Tyreek, Tyreek” when he’s ready to catch a punt and always wondered how they could forgive this man. I seriously wonder if Chiefs fans will still embrace this horrible excuse for a human being? Quote

Super User deaknh03 Posted April 27, 2019 Super User Posted April 27, 2019 funny how a guy like josh brown keeps getting caught smoking weed, but is by all accounts a decent guy, gets indefinite bans, but hill gets drafted and will probably get 8 to 12 games. 1 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted April 27, 2019 Global Moderator Posted April 27, 2019 Anybody find it odd timing when the Ray Rice deal and a couple other domestic issues were everywhere in the news then ‘deflate gate’ showed up and the domestic issues went bye bye? Quote

I seriously wonder if Chiefs fans will still embrace this horrible excuse for a human being? I'm a Chiefs fan, as difficult as it is most of the time. By all accounts of the management, Hill has been on the straight and narrow and basically a choirboy since he was drafted (which obviously is not the case, you don't just suddenly say the things he said). The woman he choked and punched when he was in college agreed to marry him, which gives the impression he had changed (obviously she was probably being swayed by the fact he was on the verge of getting a huge payday as well). As with any group, you have to realize that not everyone within the group has the same views, and this has been no different the entire time he's been here. There's lots of people who love him because he's fast and can catch a ball, and there's a lot of people who realize he's also a terrible human being who should be in jail, not waiting to find out if he'll be suspended or looking for another team or not. I frequent a Chiefs forum where it seems a majority of people are wondering why he's still on the team, and these are rabid fans who haven't had a Superbowl in their entire lives and are/were probably as close as ever with the team now with Hill on it, so there's plenty of folks who realize what the right thing to do is regardless of how it's going to impact the team. He's almost certainly going to get kicked off the Chief's, but IMO, should also be banned from the NFL because this is his second instance of domestic violence (whether it's been proven or not, it's pretty clear he's been doing it). They really need to take a stand on domestic abuse and this seems like a perfect chance to make an example. The NFL needs to stop letting guys continue to play just because they're good. They also need to ban players because it's not fair to the teams who have to cut the player or face the backlash, just so another team can pick them up as soon as they're eligible. At the very least, the team picking them up should be penalized a draft pick or something. Every team has it happen to them, it's a bunch of testosterone fueled young men who feel like they're on top of the world I'm sure, it's just a matter of time before some of them make dumb choices. 3 Quote
Dirtyeggroll Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 I’m a diehard Chiefs fan and have been for my entire life. I cringe every time I hear or see Tyreek Hill and have since his day 1 on the team. As far as the woman that he hit marrying him is concerned, there are plenty of women who will defend men who are actively abusing them. I see it all of the time in the emergency department of the hospital, and I would bet if you think hard enough @Bluebasser86 you have seen it as a police officer. There is a special place for men that abuse woman. And in my opinion, NEVER is it being glorified on national TV/media as a potential role model. And at the point they do, that feeling of being on top of the world should not be propagated. Getting away with whatever dumb mistake is made on perpetuates that feeling. Yes, people make mistakes and I’m a firm believer that there is no unforgivable crime, but by no means should a person continue to be endorsed in a role model position. It is a bit of a double-edged sword though because if he had been able to turn his life around, then I suppose it would have set the example that people can change and that there is hope for people who make mistakes. 1 Quote
