Anyone use vmc wide gap work hooks. I was looking on barlows and seems like they are a better price than all the other brands. Im getting into making swing head jigs so id like to get more of a bulk qty than the 4 and 5 packs offered by other companies.

I use either VMC or Gamakatsu depending on the price.

If you have any Rapala lures...you're already using VMC hooks as Rapala owns VMC.

You are asking about hooks for jigs so you want a stronge hook that will not spring open.

Mustad 37177 worm hooks should meet your goals and available in blk nickel needle point in bulk 50, 100 qty.

Barlows list 5 packs, call them for bulk qty.

So since im using them for swing jigs, would i want to go with a stouter hook. I ussually fish lighter wire because my main target is river smallmouth with 4lbs being a hog.

in the example 7342 is standard wire, 7316 is 1x and 7317 is 3x strong. What would be best choice for this application

i use the lighter wire for texas rigging weightless senko's and other finesse applications, but if i am flipping a texas rigged bait with a heavier weight i usually step up to a beefier hook that i can really lean into on the hookset.
