robbiez111 Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Hey Guys, looking for a moderate true cranking rod. Glass if they make em. Problem im having is finding a one piece in 7’4” to 8”. Iv found a few 7’ but im looking to be throwing mid to semi deep cranks and looking to get some distance. Crazy how many casting i can find in my specifications but for this setup I need a spinning rod ( Actually for a buddy who ONLY uses spinning rods. I love my new 7’11” Levante for cranking ) Thanks Peeps! Quote

northlander73 Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 I just picked up the St Croix legend glass spinning rod, paired with a 3000 series reel in works great. I've only thrown squarebills on it but it's rated for heavier baits than that. 2 Quote

robbiez111 Posted April 26, 2019 Author Posted April 26, 2019 Anything on the cheaper end...? $250-300 on a cranking rod is a little high. Dosent have to be glass can be a moderate fast also. Like to keep rod around $120-$175 Quote
LonnieP Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 St Croix makes a Mojo Bass medium spinning glass crankbait rod. Rated up to 3/4 ounce. $149. It's only 7'2" though . Quote
zell_pop1 Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 St Croix also makes a 7'6" inshore spinning rod that is Medium/Moderate. Quote
d-camarena Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 You need a falcon rod, medium or medium heavy depending on baits you plan to throw. Falcon uses a moderate fast blank on most their rods wich is perfect for what you need. The bucoo series arw excellent rods. They are exactly what you need Quote

I'm fairly certain it would handle the 6 and 10 no problem. I'll try and report back after this weekend if I remember. 1 Quote
