Fried plantains!!!  I hope you're kidding, I doubt most southerners know what they are, much less tried them in a sandwich.  We're talking bright yellow bananas and not even one of those that's partially green, those are hard and tend to be a bit bitter. Bright yellow.  I slice mine down the middle long ways, then in half.  If it's large slices of bread, all four pieces in one sandwich.  If it's Colonial sandwich loaf, then only three fit so I fold the extra piece between another slice of bread and make 1 1\2 sandwiches.  If they are smaller bananas, I just cut it and half and fold one slice of bread around each half, with the mayo of course.  I was raised on Dukes, but never cared much for it, has a sweet flavor I never liked.  I prefer Hellmann's.

If they start turning dark, they get too soft and mushy, but don't throw them away.  Let them sit another day or two and make banana nut bread out of them.

Not at all. I love pb&j! My favorite was my grandma’s homemade strawberry jam, freshly picked from her garden and homemade every summer. I was the youngest grandchild and lived the closest to her so naturally I got the most and I’d keep jars frozen to make it through the year.

5lbs of peanut butter!

I eat the stuff 5 days a week and that would last me a long time.

The 5 lb Jif is like 5.99. This stuff is ridiculous and it’s just a store brand.

My granddaughter thinks I'm a little weird, don't answer that it aint the question.

Instead of spreading the peanut butter on the bread & then the jelly on top.

I mix the peanut butter & jelly in a small bowl & then spread it on the bread. Sometimes like right now I'll eat it on saltine crackers.

Oh yeah it has to be Smuckers Concord Grape Jelly!

Y'all ever try that!  ?

Not in a bowl, but I mix it together on the bread.

Jiff Crunchy peanut butter and Smuckers Concord Grape or Strawberry jelly.

It’s organic. The organic label is like having a license to drive up the price.

On a a side note a couple of tablespoons of peanut butter in a bowl microwaved for 20 seconds and poured over ice cream is fantastic.

Catt, I'm a peanut butter guy from way back. I ate tons of it as a kid, and I still like it.I might try you mixing method- that sounds pretty good. I also like it spread on graham crackers, and dipped in a glass of cold milk. Good snack for sure

I just got back from the grocery and their peanut butter stock was very low.  I think this thread has boosted global peanut butter sales.

I ate PB&J sandwiches every day for lunch throughout grade school. I could eat them every day of my life until the day I die. You got a problem with that? My choice is Peter Pan creamy peanut butter and strawberry preserves

Oh I could eat them everyday too. Have you tried taking a tortilla shell and making a PB&J burrito? Good stuff.

Real men use crunchy peanut butter. ?

So many opinions on a sandwich.

I use ONE slice of bread, jelly on one side, PB on the other, fluff in the space between the PB and J, fold and eat.

Option 2, replace fluff with honey. :-)

Grandpa here makes a killer p&j sammiches. I spread a thin coat of peanut butter (to your liking) on both halves of the bread. Then it’s smuckers grape jelly in the middle thick. For a change up I use pineapple jam again thicker.

now when the fresh tomatoes come in vine ripen it’s pumpernickle bread with mayo and sliced tomatoes. I grew up on this.

If you eat real pumpernickel (not that fake stuff that they call pumpernickel), then you're a lot better man than I am!  Although I admit a slathering of hot German mustard makes it more attractive.     jj

I doubt there's been a week go by in the last 15 years that didnt have either a pbj sandwich or toast. Normally, thats my breakfast about 5 days a week. Peanut butter, banana and honey sandwich is awesome as well.

I figured this out here while back. Take a tortilla, place it on your glass stovetop, turn the heat to about 3 and while it's warming spread peanut butter on it and then drizzle honey all over it. After you get that done just take your fork swirl the peanut butter and honey together. (it will be extremely runny at this point) I then take it off the stove before the tortilla actually browns and put it on my plate. I fold it over once and eat it with a fork.
