I can get this rod from a local guy for about $100. It's in excellent condition (or so he says). I've looked it up and it appears this is a 7ft. Heavy/Fast rod with a lure rating of 1/4oz. - 3/4oz. My question to anybody who has this particular rod is how do you like it? Is it a technique specific rod or a versatile rod that can be used for multiple techniques? Does it fish to it's rating? Is $125 (or less if i can haggle him down) a good price for this rod in the condition he says it's in? I've always wanted a G Loomis rod but they've always been way beyond my price range and this is the first one that I could conceivably afford.

Do you know what year it was made and complete model number? The newer IMX rods look nearly the same as the GLX rods, similar full cork handle, not sure if they offer a split grip and short fore grip?

this is a 4 power rod the JWR good for underwater lures like jigs & worms.

Maybe the Loomis rod experts on the site will add their input. The looks to me like an older MBR Mag Bass Rod for general use that is well used.

That's one of the newer IMX'S. They got the face lift with the rings in the cork and red accents about 6 years or so ago.

The 844 and MBR's in general are really versatile.. I caught a bunch of spinnerbait fish on the old IMX and GLX versions.

I have had two which have been passed forward.

Perhaps the #1 rod that I have ever owned at its pricing point.

The nice thing about a G Loomis rod is it comes with peace of mind with their warranty. That rod breaks for any reason and for $75 or $100 you get a brand new rod shipped to you.

Does that transfer ownership if someone buys it from a private sale though?

Read the G. Loomis warranty offered; "life of the original owner".

There are BR members a lot more knowledgeable regarding Shimano-G. Loomis series rod warranty then I am.

When the NRX 1st came out about 8 years when Gary Loomis was still envolved the rods retailed for $500 and seriously looked into buy a few JWR's until I learned the rod replacement warranty was another $100 certificate purchased at the time of sale. The fully warranted NRX was $600 per rod back 2011. Liked the rod but the warranty program turned me off.

Today most high rods require $70 rod replacement warranty, Loomis was ahead of curve.

I haunt eBay looking for that exact rod, they usually go for 180-200 and with a ton of bidders. At that asking price I'd already have a lure tied and and casting! I love mine and throw anything and everything on it with the utmost confidence, it just works that well.

Maybe I called it the wrong thing but Loomis has an X-pedititor program that is $100 to replace that IMX no questions asked. I didn't see anything that said you have to be the original buyer of the rod.

The BR site is full of Loomis rod experts and they will straighten any issues out, they always critique my posts.

The graphics look like it's one generation ago and as has been said, that is an excellent deal and if it breaks it will qualify for the Xpeditor no questions asked replacement with an upgraded IMX-Pro for $100 (retail $325).

This is the model before they discontinued the line and became the imx pro series. It is a great stick and one of the best jig rods out there. The best being the original imx 844 with weibe reel seat. IMO

No need to use the expeditor program unless you need the rod in 2 days. Send it in use the regular warranty and you will receive a new rod no questions asked. I’ve done this many times with gloomis and shimano and have never been questioned on breakage, just a new rod delivered to my door.

I would buy that rod for $100 without even a second thought.  The Loomis Magbass and Classic Bass series are all amazing general purpose rods and the newer-old IMXs are quite nice.  I have been buying them up when I find them on ebay and have a nice little collection of them I use on my kayak.
