I dont like the green braid because it fades and gets on everything so I've been using white and am pretty happy with it but I'm wanting to try yellow power pro and was wondering do any of you guys use it and how bad does it fade and get on everything?

Yellow PP will fade -- fairly slowly and impreceptively, IMO.  You'll probably not notice in the first year unless you have to cut out a bad backlash and you find the bright yellow stuff near the hub....don't ask.

I use it a lot. It's really easy to see so it's great for line watching. I just use a green marker to color the first 2-3 feet. Not sure it even makes any difference to the fish. But yes it will slowly fade. I've never had it fade completely to white. I usually consume it long before it loses too much color.

Yup, I use both regular PP yellow, and PP Super Slick 8 in yellow.

Love it for line watching, and it will fade over time, but once it's

past the point of (your judgement) aesthetics, simply unspool it

and spool the line reverse - so the "unused" stuff that's been

sitting on your pool is the "new" stuff you use.

Just 'rotated' my spools from last season.  I could definitely notice the difference after putting the unused braid on top.  The braid with a season of use obviously faded but it was still pretty dang yella.'

Fading of braid never really concerned me that much, and I definitely never understood coloring braid to a darker color.

By now you know it will fade, but no one has addressed if the dye will get on your gear.

It does. I fish yellow braid (power pro in 15# on spinning, 40# sufix performance on casting), and you definitely get yellow residue all over your rods and reels. It's especially apparent on white or lighter colors.

That said, it wipes off with a wet-wipe, so it's not a huge deal. All braid will fade, because I'm pretty sure the spectra/dyneema/whatever fibers can't be made in different colors, so they have to be dyed, and dyes will always be susceptible to fading (I mean think about how hard it would be to keep something colored that is constantly bending, twisting, scrunching, rubbing, and scraping while also being soaked and dried hundreds of times a day).

ps. I also don't color the terminal end of my braid like some guys do. I do use a leader that's at least a foot or so, but past that I haven't noticed much difference switching from green to yellow braid. I'm sure it doesn't hurt though.

I’ve been using pp yellow this year. Great line so far no problems with it on bedding fish. But if your happy with white why change? Just a question I went to yellow as it was the only visible color my shop stocked.

I've used Tuf-line XP and regular Power Pro in 15 lb yellow with a leader for finesse setups.  It's just so I can see the line.  Both will fade and get dye on the rod and reel, but it takes a while.  I've never tried white, but the yellow definitely stands out against the water I fish.

I don't use PP but I use Yellow Cortland Master braid a lot. It does fade a little but not enough that I feel it affects anything. And if it leaves residue, it must not be much because I don't even notice it.

I use neon green line for my line watching needs with a 6’ or 7’ leader depending on rod length. I use suffix 832 on my spinning rods in 8 and 10 pound, I think they call it neon lime. Seaguar has one and the new power pro super slick 8 has a green that’s pretty bright. I’ve used the older power pro yellow before and it did leave gunk on my stuff but the neon green suffix hasn’t at all and it doesn’t fade much but even when it does it’s still highly visible.

This is why you might as well stick with white if it's working well. No point in going to a similar color when you're already using the only one that won't fade.

Just thought I might could see the yellow better than the white was only reason to try it and I ordered some should be in tomorrow.I had green power pro on an orange lews combo and it got on it bad and couldn't get it off,it would get on my fingers when fishing too but thanks for the replies

That's one of the biggest advantages of braid, that it doesn't need to be repaced very often as long as its not getting nicked and cut.

I have some reels with braid that is almost old enough to get its drivers license ?
