How and where should I put the fish finder?

With the recent posts of fish finder, I when out and pick up an Eagle's Fishmark 320 for $115.

I only have one battery and the cable from the unit is not long enough.  How do you guys solved this problem?  I know that one can just buy a cable and extend it.  What i'm looking for is a plug-in solution (speaker plug kind of thing).

I don't have a trailer, so I'm a little worry about mounting the transducer right on the transom.  Don't want to mount it on the trolling motor because of weed.  Any advise or idea?

I assume that you are talking about the power cable. All you need to do is run a couple of wires from the battery to the power supply wires for the unit and hook them up. Be sure to put the inline fuse on the + wire.

There are lots of transducer "protectors" on the market which should help with the weed problem on the tmotor. Other than that if your boat is metal you will have to look around for a transducer that works inside of metal boats or you could mount it on a board which can be clamped to the back of your boat with c clamps.

I have mine set up to run off of Makita 12v batteries. I carry two batteries with me.  I have everything in a milk crate.  The fishfinder is mounted to a board that is hinged to milk crate.  I have transducer on board with clamp to mount it on transom.  The board idea works okay, but I am going to go ahead and mount it on boat and leave the wires when I take fish-finder out at night.

The crate holds other stuff, and I can angle it so I can see the screen from where I fish.

The "Makita 12v batteries" is a good idea.  I got two batteries from my "crapman" cordless drill That I can try this idea out.  Going to see how long I can run the Fishfinder with my "crapman" batteries.
