Ndnbasser Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 I was just wondering why a $25 jerkbait could break off the lip and the company wouldn’t replace the bait? I normally fish a different brand , $10 cheaper, but I have read very good reviews on the bait. Now I’m regretting my decision. Has anyone else have the same opinion on Megabass oneten jerkbait? Super User WRB Posted April 18, 2019 Super User Posted April 18, 2019 I don't know of any lure you take out of the box and fish with it that a lure company warrants unless they recieve multiple complaints. So complian to Megabass and see if they respond, we can't help you! Tom Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted April 18, 2019 Super User Posted April 18, 2019 Any chance it was somehow damaged after being opened (e.g., casted into a rock, stepped on, etc)? If your first cast resulted in you only retrieving the lip I'm sure they'd replace it, but something must've happened to the bait since leaving the factory for it to break like that. Quote
Jleebesaw Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 I have never used their lures. I just can't imagine them being so much better than the competition that they justify that price. That said, I have heard nothing but good things about them. That one ten is very popular. We have all had normally dependable equipment fail on us. It happens. You can buy another one. If it doesnt hold up, dont buy a third! Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted April 18, 2019 Super User Posted April 18, 2019 They are worth every penny and I would rather have one MB over 10 Lucky Craft. If it broke on a rock or something then I don't know why they would warranty it. 2 Quote
Hollada Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 Where did you buy it? TW has taken back my broke lures before. Great CS! 1 Quote
Ksam1234 Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 I love megabass vision 110, most productive baits in the spring and fall Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 18, 2019 Global Moderator Posted April 18, 2019 They don't replace them, at least they never have for me. I had the lip appear to just fall out of a 110 magnum fishing for suspending fish out over nothing at Table Rock when my bait popped to the surface, no more bill. It never hit anything, just caught several fish. All I got was a "Huh, that's weird, at least it caught you some fish before it broke though!", when I called. I don't fish enough tournaments and catch plenty of fish on cheaper and much more durable baits to buy them. I own one that I found that I'll fish until it falls apart. Great baits, but that lack of durability makes it impossible for me to justify buying them. If I was in tournaments paying good money, I'd be buying them though. Quote

They work for me but LC has done better over the years. The two that are moving up the board for me are the Jackal Squad minnow and Imakatsu Ripriser. I don't here much about theses on the boards but these two are close to making the starting lineup. Allen Quote
thunderblack Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 MB does replace 110's with a broken lip. If the bait truly broke without contact being made to something all you have to do is send it in after emailing them. MB customer service is very helpful. 1 Quote

It's all about perspective....how you look at it.....to me, it's not a broken bait; it's an excuse to replace it with three new ones 1 Quote

Back on the topic. I have several 110's and they've held up well except for the hooks. Quote

The Maestro Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 1 minute ago, dgkasper58 said: Just get dull over time or have they rusted/deformed? They are extremely thin wire. They bend quite easily but they are somehow also quite brittle/feeble. You have to be careful not to torque on them too hard with pliers when you're removing them or they'll break. They are incredibly sticky though and are probably the best hooks for actually sticking fish that aren't fully committing. I read that in Japan, jerkbaits are fished on much lighter tackle vs. North America so the hooks are a common complaint. You can buy the exact replacement hooks on Tackle Warehouse. Changing to heavier hooks might affect the suspending properties of the bait so it's not recommended. Quote

Thanks for the advice- I myself am pretty light tackle when it comes to jerkbaits but I frequently bend them with pliers- so thanks for the heads up! 1 Quote
yosef Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 The vision 110 is awesome but this is a common issue I have when fishing rocky bottoms ...they work so well I still buy them. I also like my lucky craft pointers and spro mcstick for a cheaper and more durable lure but they don’t have as good of action as the megabass Quote
jakkbauer Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 anything can break that thing off... caught in a limb and tugged too hard? gone. tried to skip under dock but nailed it up against it? gone. smash on a rock on shore while casting to it from a boat? gone. that being said I still buy the hell out of them because they simply preform and usually if i do manage to hit that tight spot instead of slamming my $25 110 the fish is usually where I thought it would be and it is worth it. i learned to take better care of my 110's and if i plan on tossing it into the **** i throw an old one or a knockoff Quote

Recieved a brand new Savage Gear 3d snake 12" and it was broke in the package. Emailed Savage and got a quick response. They ask for photos and my address. Sent photos and info to them. That was over two months ago. I've emailed the guy I dealt with 3 times and received no further correspondence. Poor customer service in my eyes for a $27 lure. Quote
Logan S Posted April 20, 2019 Posted April 20, 2019 If you have issues breaking bills on the 110's and fish around rocks/docks/etc...But don't want to give up on the 110, try the 110-FX model. The folding lip is much more durable, at least in my experience, and holds up well to those tasks. The standard 110 is my go-to jerkbait, but if I'm fishing shallower than normal or around rocks/docks I'll usually tie on the FX. That folding lip thing is pretty cool in the wind too, usually stays straight as a bullet on casts...Not as much tumbling. I actually the love the stock hooks on the 110's, but they are definitely light wire and do bend fairly easily. I bought a ton of replacements in bulk from MB-USA a few year back and just replace as needed. Unfortunately, I don't believe they sell their trebles in bulk from the factory anymore. FWIW I don't think I've heard of MB declining to replace broken bill 110's until reading this thread. I've had 2 replaced and know several others that have had them replaced as well. Quote
Ndnbasser Posted April 20, 2019 Author Posted April 20, 2019 I finally got a response to my email and customer support said mail back to them and they will make a decision after inspection. After spending $25 on a lure I tried to be very cautious on where I fished it. Great action and I did catch fish with the oneten, small ones. Thanks for the information. Quote
