Shimano Exage Casting

Heard a while ago these were being phased out, I assume for the SLX.  Starting to see them on clearance a lot of places and wanted to see if anyone here has used the Exage?  Thoughts?

 

Not a rod that I "need" but I'm always looking.  Worth picking up, or leave it on the shelf?

They are decent rods for the money.

I have the 7'2" med hvy and 6'10" med casting.

Comparing the SLX and the Exage, I feel the Exage is a little better quality. I was going to pick up a SLX but the rod handles felt cheap to me.

What techniques do you feel the MH is best suited for?  I was looking at both the 7'2 M and MH.  All powers are not created equal ?

I have 3 of them, all 7-2” MH.  I use them for worms, swim baits, spinnerbaits, you name it.  Bought them to replace some older Claris rods.  Not the lightest rods but not the heaviest either.  Fairly sensitive.  For the price I paid ($100 each I think when I got them awhile back) they work.

I have an Exage spinning rod I bought to build a setup for my wife. It looks good and seems to perform well. I'm not great at saying one rod is more sensitive than another, but it's sensitive in any case. Using senkos and Ned Rigs we can definitely feel the bite, and feeling rocks is no problem either. If they have them on closeout you could certainly do worse.
