As the title states. I'm looking for some better quality utility boxes than what came with my tackle bag. Currently have the stock Plano 3700 boxes and they seem to be warping on the ends. I took a look at the Bass Mafia ones but they seem really cheap and not worth the price. What boxes do you guys use? Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I've never had issues with the Plano boxes. Are you storing plastic worms in them outside of bags? A lot of modern plastics - especially Z-Man - don't play well with any brand of boxes.

The Plano 3700 with the "better" black latches are SUPER cheap at Academy right now. Like 3 bucks a box. I bought like 14 of them LOL

Plano 3700 Pro Latch and Plano 3750 Pro Latch are very good boxes. They have slightly thicker plastic than many other brands, rounded hinges and quality latches.

Bass Mafia don't warp.  Gamakatsu are nice so far.  The more expensive Planos as mentioned are good to.

No, I actually keep those out of the containers. The only thing I store in the boxes are hard baits or terminal tackle.

Thanks a lot. I will have to look into those. I have the clear latches on mine.

Thanks very much. I wasn't  couldn't tell from the pictures if they were any different. The LFS doesn't stock any of the boxes so I'm going to have to order online.

Ah yes, the original Plano's...I put all those down in the workshop for storing hardware, spare drill bits and extra taps. I've gone totally Pro-Latch for my tackle. Much better quality than the old clear-latch boxes.

Both the Pro-Latch and new Rustrictor Plano boxes (shown) have two, strong latches that hold tight, and prevent the lids from warping.  They're also made from a thicker plastic, which also prevents warping.

The Rustrictor series also inhibits rust from forming on your hooks.

Plano Pro-Latch boxes are inexpensive. Some tackle bags come with the cheaper latches on the boxes. But upgrading to the Pro-Latch boxes isn’t too pricey. Plano makes cheap 3700’s and better Pro-Latch ones.

The clear megabass with  4 latches are excellent quality. And decently priced.

I only have a few of the old clear latch boxes remaining in my fishing gear - pretty much converted to pro latch style.   With my occasionally arthritic fingers, the clear latches are a pain to open or close sometimes.  The old boxes all got transferred to the shop as fastener containers and so forth.

I have never had a problem with the Plano boxes warping. Are they left outside in the sun all day per chance? Also the Bass Mafia boxes are expensive, but you get what you pay for. There's videos of people running them over with their truck on youtube -- and they survive!

I've got in the neighborhood of 60 Plano utility boxes of all sizes, styles and age. I've got a few that have warped a bit, but it doesn't stop any of them from closing or otherwise functioning normally.

I have went through probably 30-40 Plano boxes over the years. Latches breaking, cracking, warping, etc. I decided to buy Bass Mafia bait coffins. I have 7 3700 and 1 3700 DD. They are EXPENSIVE and are probably NOT worth it if you can't afford them. However, I am not one bit worried that they will last me another 20 years if I need them to. Not to mention they are HEAVY and there is no way I would want to lug them around. I am a co-angler so I just carry them from my house to my truck and then into my buddies boat.

I ended up picking up the plano pro latch 3700s. They are like night and day compared to the original. Thanks a lot guys. Was going to get some of the Bass Mafia stuff but felt it was a little overpriced for what it was.

I was sick of the Plano dividers being curved all the time.  Got some Flambeaus and like it much more.  Would prefer the latches Plano pro models but never had a problem with the Flambeau latches yet.
