Bought this reel probably over a yr ago but it was barely used. Took it out on new rod the other day and felt a rattle. Thought it was the rear reel hood on the rod handle but it's the handle on the Stradic. When the handle is down at the 6 o clock position there is movement up and down in the handle and you care hear it and feel it. Bad bearing or alignment through the square hole the handle goes through possibly? Any that's or same issues?

Lol, yes.

There's no square hole. The handle screws in.

Got it, was thinkin of older ones or something. Either way it has movement when its tight. I dont know, expected in 20 30 boat rides for $200? Or do I need to go up to an Exsence or Daiwa Certate?

I tossed my Ci4+ in my spare reel bucket after it kept getting line wrapped under the two spools onto the spindle. Shimano wouldn't do anything for me because it's a rear drag and not intended for sale in the U.S.

My $35 Daiwas work all the time.

Got 2x of the Ci4's. You probably overspooled your reel, I've done the same thing and yea on these guys if you over spool it the line falls below sometimes when it's relaxed.

Nope I have two spools and even with the spools run down half way after removing the bird's nest under the spool they STILL will catch the line onto the spindle.

I have well over a dozen other reels from Shimano, Penn, and Daiwa and never had this issue.

d**n, sorry man. If it helps I run an ultralight setup with the light ci4 on 4lb fluro and the other runs 12lb braid with a leader. Maybe the line isn't tight enough, I really don't know. My ultralight reel is prob my fav out of all of them too, never let me down and I use the hell out of it.

With 8 lb. hybrid it was at its worst, moving up to 12 helped a bit but it always failed out on my boat, and I had to use my spare rod. I never thought I'd be carrying a $40-$50 reel as a spare for a $200+ model, but as it is I need two setups on my boat so I can't rely on the Stradic.

Funny I have other far less expensive Shimano reels (Sahara, Sienna and a Sedona) that do not hiccup a bit.

The lesson if there is one do not buy reels made by Shimano made for distribution out of the country you reside in, they refuse to stand by them.

Shimano is weird like that, they will not service JDM stuff out of their US centers, you have to send them to independent reel service people and hope they can source any parts you might need.
