I wouldn’t even have thought to throw one this early with how the weather has been yeah in certain areas... i got some looks from other fisherman?, but i caught 4 on it paralleling the bank , till it got too windy. as long as its a warming trend, shallow. the shad are shallow going back and forth along the rock bank. all the bass im catching are warm too. mostly 12-15" no giants yet with it. 1 Quote

Adam Markley Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Which lake is easier to fish with only a trolling motor, nock or marsh creek? Dang hp limit, wanting to hit some new lakes besides BM. Quote

Dang hp limit, wanting to hit some new lakes besides BM. marsh is wider but way shorter than the nox. you can cover marsh in a trolling motor but it'll be hard covering the nox length wise. Quote

Yes it was a dumb idea but I only swam a few feet. I’d feel terrible leaving the fish knowing it was still on. 22 minutes ago, YoTone said: marsh is wider but way shorter than the nox. you can cover marsh in a trolling motor but it'll be hard covering the nox length wise. Thanks tone. I think I’m gonna try nock from the haycock launch Quote
YoTone Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Had a few hours to play so I took myself to a new spot that I used to bank fish. Very small in size but the snake head bite can be fun. This one slimed my kayak good. This was the best Pic I could take. He flopped out before I could get my grippers in his jaw. Lost another when she spat my buzzbait. In total I went 1 for 3. 1 1 Quote
YoTone Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 Theres very little that beats the pleasure of swinging for the fences and the feeling of hooking up. Caught this and another on the spro spit shad. I'd rather catch bass but I'll take these any day. Quote
Quarry Man Posted May 17, 2020 Author Posted May 17, 2020 didn't catch any bass but fished my lake water temps 60 yesterday, 60-65 this evening. saw many bass shallow. rock bass are spawning. Bass were in th process of mating so I didn't mess with em due to it being smallish lake that I care a whole lot about. caught one trout lost a whole lot more, was probably 16" or so, gave it to a family fishing from the dock along with some powerbait. going earliish tomorrow on a smallmouth lake. 1 Quote

oysterk Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Got first boat! A little mini bass boat, the Pelican Bass Raider 10-E Excited for a good summer at marsh and blue marsh with this thing + a 55lb thrust motor 3 Quote
Quarry Man Posted May 19, 2020 Author Posted May 19, 2020 got out on the lake for the last two hours of the day. started off with moderate winds and then ended fairly calm. No fish deep, spent about 30 min fishing deep, decide to move shallow. Caught a 2.3 on a Neko rig shallow. Then threw a small swim jig and a KSIF on a ball head jig, no takers, switched to a naked freedom chatterbait and a KSIF, two fish right away. one dink one 3lber. Next I threw a buzz bait on the way back, missed a big blowup. switched back to the chatter and missed a pickerel twice in a row. was probably 3lbs also. looks like they were shallow. water temps 60-62. 1 Quote
oysterk Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 Caught a bass on a bed, local pond couple days back. Hope they start spawning in the lakes soon. Quote
Quarry Man Posted May 22, 2020 Author Posted May 22, 2020 caught female bass in textbook styles yesterday, deep water with shallow access when a cold front moved in and lots of wind. water temps dropped like 8 degrees. hammered the trout as well. in other news, a local guide is opening a tackle store 3 min from my house. I am talking with him in hopes of working there or beginning to guide in the area. exciting times! 1 Quote

Nice I was there a few days ago attempting to do that but the wind really messed me up. Maybe because of the shutdown they stopped the spraying of the grass because there's no need with the rental place closing. Last year for me I only targeted stumps and aim at the bank because there wasnt if any real grass with some depth to it. Crazy how low the water was right? 1 Quote
YoTone Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 I'm fooling myself. I go to this pond acting like I'm trying to catch bass but I know deep down inside me Im hoping for another kind of fish. Yeah, I can and do catch bass there and once in a blue moon I'll catch a decent one but I know catching a 5+ bass is almost impossible. but catching a snake that size and bigger is a real possibility every outing. These other fish which has created a craze, has brought out the wierdest type of anglers to my area. Some are new to fishing ( you can tell by the gear) and have that look in thier eyes and ask me " ya seen any snakes?" I always give a look of disgust and tell them I go for bass with a sense of old school pride. I always tell them no in hopes of driving them away. Even these reports I give here im worried about blowing up my spots. Those guys are like moths to a flame. I don't blame them. these fish absolutely blast any bass lures and fight like mad. Plus they taste way better than I thought. I caught this beast yesterday on a booyah pad crasher. My wife wanted to eat one after she saw me watch a YouTube video of a catch and cook. I'm scared because how good they taste. Maybe one or two a year is safe to consume. 2 Quote
