Mjmj Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 I wanted to try something new so I decid to fish Promiseland yesterday. It's a shallow, clear and weedy lake. You have Tobe careful navigating the lake as there is submerged wood everywhere, about 1'below the surface. Igot there early and started with a whopper plopper. 2 hrs and 29 pickerel later I finally caught a bass. It took about 2 hrs to figure out where they were and then it was on! The bucks were on the beds and the females were within about 3' of the bed. Had a great time. In my remaining 6 hrs I caught well over 30 bass and most of them keepers. Most of the keepers were around 3 pounds and biggest went 4 and 3/4 pounds. 3 Quote
ericw55anddogrufie Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 I'm new to this forum but have been fishing for ..............a while. This is the first time in 15 years I've fished. Previously it was Cape Coral/Ft.Myers Florida. I have been taking my nephews 10 year old son out to fish. It's his first time fishing this year. We live in Central PA...Sunbury...about one half mile mile from the Susquehanna River. Presently we are taking advantage of trout season in PA and have fished Halfway Lake, Little Shamokin Creek, Roaring Creek, Mahantongo Creek and Mahoning Creek. In six weeks we have caught over 100 stocked trout (and yes, they are delicious). We are just using two and four pound test with size 14 hooks. We attach a small split shot about 10-16 inches above the hook to allow the bait to float. For bait, Berkley yellow Power Bait with garlic scent has worked well for us. When the fish don't want the power bait we will cast a butter worm weightless into the water in these locations and continue to have success. Now it is getting warmer so it is time to move onto Walker Lake, Penns Creek, Middle Creek and Faylors Lake for bass, crappie, pickerel, walleye and hopefully large bluegills/pumpkinseeds. It will be fun and I am looking forward to it. 1 Quote

Since it was really cold windy and rainy I figured the traffic at nockamixon was minimal. Turned out it was almost empty and it was game on. Used the jig and the jack hammer and put a beating on them like I've never had. Not only got them in numbers but most were quality sizes. Nice going !! thx for posting 1 Quote
BucksBasser Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Almost three years since the last contribution to this thread. Figured I'd revive it for this year. Was out on Peace Valley yesterday just get the cabin fever off and limber up the casting arm. Tossed a NED rig from shore with no success. I did see one boat down by the dam. Must have been a fun launch as the docks are still pulled. I did see some minnow activity near shore as the past few warm sunny days must have brought the water temp up a few degrees. I'll give it another two weeks and check again. 3 Quote
Bruce424 Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Hopefully be out in bluemarsh or nockamixon this weekend. We will see. Works been wearing me out. Quote
Susky River Rat Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 @Bruce424 I’m either going to be at blue marsh or the susky 1 Quote
Susky River Rat Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 I did fish the susky the only thing I have to report is a flat rear tire on my truck. 1 Quote
Susky River Rat Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 The susky was producing well with the high water. 1 Quote
Bruce424 Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 Had a pretty good day at blue marsh. Caught a 10-15lb flathead on a dt 6. Also snagged a carp .Can't believe they didn't snap my 12 lb line. Continued with dt6 and caught 3 nice bass one was a smallie....... All in the 2-3 lb mark. They weren't really going after anything else. Thought the be all over the lipless but...nope! 3 Quote
Susky River Rat Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 @Bruce424 I’ve never had any killer days there but, I’ll usually get into at least one. I’m also all hope no scope. Quote
Bruce424 Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 I think....it's topwater time. Buzzbait killed it today. Quote
Bruce424 Posted April 19, 2024 Posted April 19, 2024 Water temp was 58-60* at blue marsh. Caught about 7 decent bass. 2 over 3 lbs. One of the two could have been pushing 4lbs. Caught them on squarebill chatterbait and spinnerbait. Squarebill got most of the bites but the spinnerbait got the big one. Good day for only being out for 2 hrs. 1 Quote
Susky River Rat Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 River has been pretty good. Getting them on cranks. 1 Quote
BucksBasser Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 I was delinquent in reporting my outing on Nockamixon on May 6th. Weather on the low 70s, bright sun. Launched at 9:00 AM. My main purpose was to shakedown the changes I made on the boat his year. LiFePo batteries for trolling and electronics. New wiring for electronics. Garmin Echomap Ultra106sv on the stern and Garmin Striker 7sv on the bow. Both sensors on new mounts. I was out for three hours and 2 1/2 of that working out sonar settings, testing trolling motor, and getting a good run on the engine. Only fished about 30 minutes. Surface water was 60 deg with very little fish activity seen. Most bait balls and larger fish spotted via sonar suspended about 15 - 20 feet down over deeper water. I didn't have any strikes. All in all I hadn't expected to fish much or have much success. But I was happy with all the equipment changes. I should get out several days next week as the weather looks to be great after rounds of chilly rain this week. 1 Quote
Bruce424 Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 Bite kinda subsided for me. Think spawn may be on. At least at blue marsh. Getting bites on buzzbaits and spinnerbaits in stained water. Thought the jig bite would still be on but not really Quote
santafish Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Headed up to north Branch of the Susquehanna later this weekend on my kayak. Anyone been out that way recently? Quote
Susky River Rat Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 @santafishI’ve been trying to get out there but, it’s either been higher than I would like or a weekend I can’t get out. Quote
santafish Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Was out this past weekend. Susky River level is really high still versus what I'm used to but they were hitting everything I threw except chatterbaits. Had lots of success on stickbaits, dropshots, and finesse paddletails. Quote
Susky River Rat Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 @santafish I don’t know what branch or area you were fishing but the Harrisburg gauge was 4.8 which is normal flow for this time of year. Quote
BucksBasser Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Made a quick trip to Peace Valley to fish the shoreline. Landed one about 2 lbs in half hour of fishing. Weightless stickbait in shad color. Lots of shallow baitfish and crayfish. Quote
Susky River Rat Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Bite on the susky has slowed but the quality has increased Quote
BucksBasser Posted June 22, 2024 Posted June 22, 2024 Got out on Lake Nockamixon Wednesday. Caught two about 2 lbs each on weightless shad colored stickbait. Took my 7 yo grandson. His first time on the boat. I asked him if he wanted to fish for crappies but he wanted to try for a bass. 1 Quote
Susky River Rat Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 Went to blue marsh yesterday. Water temp was almost 84 at 6AM. Got a few really shallow in the down timber and weeds. Tried out deeper in 7-15 foot along the deep dying weeds and breaks. No luck there. I am also by no means good at fishing blue marsh so others may have had much better success. Quote
