STREAMHAWAII Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 I purchase the Daiwa Tatula LT spinning reel about a month ago and noticed that when I cast, it makes a weird noise. It almost seems that the braid (PowerPro 15 or 20) when exiting, is hitting the top edge of the spool and creating a high pitch noise. I also notice that the casts aren't as far also. The line isn't hitting the (Nanonace 7'3") blank. It's coming from the spool. Anyone else experience this? Quote
LxVE Bassin Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 I would send it in to Daiwa or a professional reel repairmen or women for maintenance. I got the Ballistic LT which is pretty much the same reel and I love it. Quote
Super User MickD Posted April 9, 2019 Super User Posted April 9, 2019 What is the diameter of the first guide on that rod? Could be braid going through the guide is making the noise? Maybe the guide is too small? Put some wax on the lip of the spool, let it dry so it forms a matte film, then make a couple casts. Is the film disturbed? If not, the noise is not line to lip contact. If it is disturbed, it might be that contact that's making the noise, although I've never heard it with probably dozens of reels and all kinds of line. But I have heard line to guide contact. Keep in mind that when casting with a spin outfit, there are no moving parts exc the line. So it's a pretty simple system. 1 Quote
The Bassman Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 My Fuego LT's have a distinct sound that's not unpleasant when casting. Must just be a spool lip design thing. I use lighter braids so 15-20 lb. PP (assuming 4 strand) would be louder. Also, it would be more noticeable if the spool is not completely full. 1 Quote
