I have a 6’6” bps carbonlite ml that is nice for kayaking but I’d prefer it in 7 for general bass duties.   I Bought a used Dobyns champion extreme dx 702 that is about the  perfect action but I don’t feel the sensitivity is that great.  I should have just got a longer bps cl rod but wanted to give Dobyns a shot.

I too prefer BC over spinning reels, but do to you will find a caster that will out perform the spinning setup.  The issue is that lighter baits decelerate quicker than BC spools can and you get more nest.

When you see pros picking up spinning gear, it should tell you something.

If I had to pick, I would look at the Expride A 7'2"

Sorry to be little help

Ever since I had my SL ligament removed from my right wrist ... I’ve had to switch to all baitcaster.  I’m mostly a finesse fisherman - wacky rigs, flukes, Ned/Neko, etc.  I have been in pursuit of the best baitcasting set ups for 3 years now.  The two I have that work the best - sort of - for your definition:

•Majorcraft Don Iovino 6’-10” Medium XF Finesse rod (If you ask those that use this rod - it is a Medium-Light action rod) but 2 inches shorter than what you want.  $120

•Loomis NRX 7’-1” 852 Medium XF (Rated 1/8-3/8 oz arguably a ML) $500

•Your third option is to take up DVT above and have them make a custom rod for you.

Best of luck - Fry

I would look at the Phenix Feather, they offer a ML and a L power. I would also check out JDM Major Craft rods, they have a wide selection of BFS rods. Digitaka has free shipping on 2 piece rods and great prices. Custom is also a great option.

I have a 7' ML Fenwick (can't remember the exact model off the top of my head). I use it for a cheap BFS rod with 8lb mono. It'll cast a little 1/8oz micro finesse jig nicely.

Daiwas new Tatula lineup has a 7 foot ML baitcast rod. I actually got their 7' M Regular rod and I LOVE it, only small gripe is the handle which is 14 inches where my HMG's are 17 and ive grown acustom to it. Great rod overall, especially at the price point.
