uglyasheck Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Guys and Gals I am looking for a new spinning rod for light weighted texas rigs , 1/16, 1/8,& 3/16 weights, but with enough back bone to set the hook and $0 to $200. Any suggestions for a rod for this type fighting. Right now I use a Abu Vengence 6'6" Med / Fast tip? Quote
Glaucus Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 How about dead in the center of your budget: the Fenwick HMG in M/F for $100. It fishes on the heavier side of M, but it can still sling light weights, giving you backbone and castability. 1 Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted April 7, 2019 Super User Posted April 7, 2019 I also endorse the HMG, an excellent-value rod at $100, and the medium is stout enough for good hooksets on a texas rig for a spinning rod. At the top of your budget, have a look at the MF Fenwick Aetos, still enough backbone but also super sensitive, and the 6'6" and 7'0" models are almost an ounce and a half lighter than the same models of the HMG: http://www.fenwickfishing.com/fenwick-freshwater-rods-fenwick-aetos/fenwick-aetos-spinning/1405238.html Quote
kschultz76 Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Kistler Helium 3 Light Medium Heavy Fast. Comes in 6’8” and I think a 7’0”. Rated for 3/16-7/8oz. Great stick and versatile for those who like spinning gear for more then the lightest finesse. Quote
waymont Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Daiwa Tatula 6'6" or 6'8" medium rod. I use it for that exact presentation and for 5/16 finesse jigs. Perfect for both. Super light and sensitive. Quote
uglyasheck Posted April 8, 2019 Author Posted April 8, 2019 Thanks Guys! I actually have looked everyone of these rods mentioned Just got to make my mind up now. Quote
