Sphynx Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Boy do I feel like a kid that just got worked over for his lunch money. Break in the thunder storms and I hit the lake at sunrise, foggy, humid and hot. Fish feeding and jumping like crazy, thought I'd do alright today but I think somebody must have taught the fish a lot since last weekend, because I couldn't get even a nibble. Spinnerbaits, t-rigs, ned rigs, paddletail swimbaits, jigs, crankbaits, frogs, spooks, nothing. Hope everybody else goes a long time before they get beat that bad by the fish. Gonna need some ice for this burn lol. 1 Quote

EGbassing Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 They might be spawning right now. They are in Alabama. 1 Quote
wcjohnson Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 From the sounds of it, there's a number of people sharing your pain. Two to three weeks ago, I was slaying them. This past week, I was out several times at a few different locations, and was skunked each time. We've had a 30 degree temperature swing here in central Illinois this past week, think it has them in a funk as they're getting ready to spawn. 1 Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted April 8, 2019 Super User Posted April 8, 2019 Wow...feel your pain....bled for several days after a fishing trip two weeks ago. I would have bet dollars we could have caught some keepers.....NOT!!! 1 Quote
Coldbasser Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Still 3' of ice here to help ease your pain:-)) getting on the water in a boat is considered a victory in & of itself cheers rick 1 Quote
Sphynx Posted April 8, 2019 Author Posted April 8, 2019 Well, no boat for this kid. With all the skeeters and noseeums and whatever other sorts of beastly things they are, I've a fair chance at trying my hand at fishing while they float me around the lake. I suppose it's the least they can do for the feast I give them all year long. Quote
Super User Koz Posted April 9, 2019 Super User Posted April 9, 2019 It happens to all of us and it's absolutely no fun at all. On Friday evening I fished for just over an hour and caught two 5's, a 4, and two just under 3 pounds. On Sunday I fished for 5 hours and caught one two pounder. It weird, but sometimes as soon as I hit the banks I just know that it's going to be a lousy day fishing. Sometimes it's because we've had a front move in and the bass just lock themselves down when that happens. Other times everything seems just right but I get that feeling it's going to be a lousy day. But it sure beats sitting inside and watching TV. 1 Quote
