Hook Size for 3" Kalin's Grub?

I am grubbing for advice....

 

I am going to try a 3" grub for the first time for bass.  The grub I bought is a Kalin's 3" grub.  It appears to have a slightly larger diameter body than most grubs.  What hook size do you recommend?  Any specific brand?  I was going to go with whatever unpainted jig head with as big a hook as possible without impeding action.

I've used the Kalin's Spot Stalker jigs a lot the last couple seasons. They've got a wire weed guard, a swim jig-esque head, and a flat standup bottom. 1/8th and 1/16th oz.

Thank you; I was planning on 1/16 and perhaps 3/32.  What I am trying to determine is the appropriate hook size.  I can get a 1/16 with a #2, #1, 1/0 or 2/0.  I know a 2/0 is too large.  What about a 1/0 or #1 for the 3" grub?

You can use just about any hook size on a jig by only running the hook through the upper portion of the plastic on the grub. You'll be fishing it with an exposed hook, so you don't need to concern yourself with the thickness of the plastic.

As for the weight of the jig, as long as you can control the depth and speed of your presentation and that tail is doing it's thing, you're golden.

For a 3" grub on a jig head I run 3 sizes mostly, 1/16oz, 3/32oz, and 1/8oz. I use a #1 hook most of the time but I also use a #2 on occasion. I pour my own jigs so having a few of each size isn't an issue but if I was buying them I'd probably go with a 3/32oz or 1/8oz with a #1 hook.
