wareagle83 Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Seemed really hard on my transom today with a 55lb. thrust trolling motor. Wasn't shaking or twisting really, but prolonged use cannot be good for it. Anyone reinforce their transom? This will be an electric only boat so I'd like to keep the 55lb. for my main propulsion. Maybe I just need some good blocks in between transom and screw plates? Quote
jhoffman Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I just rebuilt a transom in my john. Took a piece of 3/4 ply and sandwiched a 1/2" piece with it using construction adhesive. I have a 5hp gas motor and a trolling motor hanging on it. If that wouldnt work for you nothing would. Quote
wareagle83 Posted May 15, 2008 Author Posted May 15, 2008 Sounds like a plan jhoffman. I'll have to look into it this weekend if it EVER quits raining here, lol! Quote
jhoffman Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Sounds like a plan jhoffman. I'll have to look into it this weekend if it EVER quits raining here, lol! I got rained on last night at the lake. Cold front really moved the fish into deep cover dropped the lake temp 10 degrees. Its been raining a lot here too. Calling for rain for the next ten days. Make sure you use the best ply you can afford. Also, coat it with something. I used thompson watersealer. Quote
