TriCityBassin' Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Can we talk about reel mods here or does it belong somewhere else? Quote
TriCityBassin' Posted April 3, 2019 Author Posted April 3, 2019 Great!!! Has anyone swapped a BFS or MGL spool into a curado or citica? The lower end and really high end Shimanos have that option in JDM. Quote

Makes a great reel unbelievably good. Also, it's not too shallow as to limit line choice. 1 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted April 6, 2019 Super User Posted April 6, 2019 It is really hard to figure out which spool would fit into different reel for Shimano, unless they are the same body style but still not all fit, like Aldebaran 50HG and Aldebaran 50 or 30MGL( the BFS version is out due to different braking system) or Casita and Casita MGL (the MGL spool is cost almost the same as new reel). Shimano have a lot of braking systems in their production line old VBS, fine tune VBS (8brake boxes) 1st gen adjustable (red shoe/curado I) 2nd gen (white shoes/13 metanium) last gen SVS (all newer reels) and magnetic type BFS. The best way to improve or swap spool is to go after market like Ray’s, Avail, Yumeya. 1 Quote

No, never been to that site! Thanks I have a shallow spool on a jdm reel that has the same (looks like) frame as the caenan, casitas. But the casts are unstoppable. 4 red brake weights. I'll put a picture up later. This gave me the idea. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted April 6, 2019 Super User Posted April 6, 2019 You might not set it correctly, let see picture of your reel and the brake shoes if they are at on or off position. i think casita use gen 2 adjustable brake shoe(white) while mgl JDM version use newest gen. Your must be caenan which use gen 1(red). This is very interesting if you can use casita spool in caenan since they might built from same frame. I’m really interested in you progress. I’ve had idea to replace a whole brake block of 200i (gen 1) to the newest to get rid of that annoying sound. Quote
