Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted April 2, 2019 Global Moderator Posted April 2, 2019 The rumors have been around for a month or two but seems to be ramping up. Could this be the feeder system for MLF/BPT? The timing does seem to be right with the start of the BPT. Quote
punch Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Everything I've read and heard is that it's already a done deal. Boyd's group has bought FLW. Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted April 2, 2019 Super User Posted April 2, 2019 It’s way more interesting than what is being speculated and assumed at this point ? Give it time - it will all come out eventually. 3 Quote

punch Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 I messaged my buddy, who's a FLW Tour angler, about MFL buying FLW and he simply replied with "I thought that was their entire plan from the start." So yeah. 1 Quote
NittyGrittyBoy Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 What does this mean for FLW if they did? Quote

I’m guessing that would be their feeder system. BPT only took a couple guys from the FLW and FLW was pretty tight lipped when the whole BPT was announced, while BASS wasn’t as quiet. Coincidence? ? BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 3, 2019 BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 3, 2019 Yes, I heard the same thing a few weeks ago. It makes sense. They need a magazine and feeder system. Plus the industry cannot support 3 major tours. This is actually a good move for the industry, and for competitors. Quote
NittyGrittyBoy Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Exciting times in the Bass industry! Anxious to see what happens now! Quote
Ozarkbassfshman Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 I'm curious if the flw will keep the same format or go to mlf format? Quote
YoTone Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Maybe that was one of the reasons why MLF didnt invite Scott Martin to join them at that time. Quote

This may be relevant, maybe not. I knew that may FLW magazine subscription would be running out, and I had no plans of renewing. The FLW magazine couldn't hold a light to Bassmaster or Bass Angler, which are both excellent. Anyway, here's the interesting part, FLW never sent me any type of renewal notice. I thought that it was weird, but thought nothing of it as I wasn't going to renew. Quote
redux Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 Makes good sense and seems like a good move for both groups. Assuming it does happen, I hope FLW can keep producing content without heavy oversight from MLF. I enjoy the goofy stuff Jody and Kyle put together. Quote
Jason Penn Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 maybe that's why david dudley seems to be pro mlf in his videos. on a related note, i didnt care much for that cat from interviews i had seen over the years, but after watching some of his youtube he seems like a pretty alright dude. Quote

Super User webertime Posted May 8, 2019 Super User Posted May 8, 2019 Makes sense to keep the standard format for FLW and use the MLF format for the BPT. Lots of guys still enjoy the standard format. With Costas, BFLs the All American, Forrest Wood Cup, and TBF stuff it's pretty comprehensive. Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted May 9, 2019 Super User Posted May 9, 2019 So, does that settle the debate on which trail was the true "Elite" group? BASS or FLW? Quote
