LionHeart Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Yep, they are excellent rods. IMO as good as the original version, and I was glad to see the switch to full cork handle. I prefer the new reel seat also. Quote
waymont Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Some of my favorite rods. I have a 6'6" medium spinning rod and a casting rod. They are really light, well balanced and sensitive. I recommend them. Every one I have felt in the store has made me want to get it too. They remind me of my old Loomis IMX rods in regards to lightness and balance. Quote

It’s an awesome Texas rig/jig rod. I felt the 7’1” rod you mentioned and it was nice. The extra fast tip was cool, not too stiff. 1 Quote
Mr Swim Jig Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 I have both the orignial Tatula rods as well as some of the newer ones. The newer ones do have slightly smaller guides on them but they are not micro guides...Love all my Tatula rods original and new.... Quote
BassKicker42 Posted April 2, 2019 Author Posted April 2, 2019 Thanks for all the info guys. Just bought my first Tatula rod. The rest are AlX and Dobyns which I love, but I figured I needed to give the Tatula a chance and especially for $100! Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted April 2, 2019 Super User Posted April 2, 2019 Tatula or Tatula XT? If Tatula, where? Big fan of the originals. Quote

Daiwa just came out with a new Tatula late last year. Not an XT. Same blank from what I hear but a different real seat and smaller guides. Sportsman’s outfitters btw. Quote

The orginal is on Amazon in only some models for $120 I believe. I was looking at the 6'10" MH/F, price will differ with different models probably. Can anyone give some insight as to whether these new Tatula rods are better than the originals? People rave about the originals and say it fishes way above its price point. I can get the original for $120 and the 2018 for $100. Quote

Was hoping to see the 7'2" Glass model I have read about (original model), but it's not listed (nor at TW ). I see they list the 7'1" MH as "Fast", but the X in the model number means it is an Extra Fast. 3 minutes ago, BigBass'n_Harrison said: The orginal is on Amazon in only some models for $120 I believe. BassKicker42 Posted April 3, 2019 Author Posted April 3, 2019 Can anyone speak on how the new Tatulas rate as far as sensitivity? Quote
waymont Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 I use my 6’6” spinning rod for 5/16 finesse jigs and can feel very light bites. I have it paired with 3000 Tatula LT and it’s perfectly balanced and super light. I would say they are very sensitive rods. 1 Quote
BassKicker42 Posted April 4, 2019 Author Posted April 4, 2019 Figured I would give my first impressions on the new Tatula 7’1 Medium Heavy Extra Fast.....just came in the mail. Packaged very well by sportsman’s outfitters. Seems well built, definitely light. One guide was slightly bent down but no damage so hopefully that’s no biggie. The guides aren’t true micro guides in my opinion but they are smaller. I had a duckett micro magic pro and those guides were much smaller. Threw a Tatula CT on there and it balances nicely. Starting to think my CT on the ALX Ikos isn’t nearly as balanced. This combo makes the ALX look tip heavy. Seems just about as sensitive as the ALX, but I wouldn’t say the tip feels like an extra fast. Seems more like a fast which is fine really as long as the sensitivity is there. Hope I get some time out to fish this weekend so I can give some more thoughts. Tight lines! Quote
