I thought that was the MSRP....but in any event, I remember that TD Minnow basically ushering in more higher cost jerkbaits....and man I wish I was sitting on a collection of 30 of those ! There was an article I saw that said the original ones took like 3 weeks each to make which is why they cost so much. I am a jerkbait aficionado and for years collected everyone that came out. Kind of gave it up after I realized I could not use 1/2 the baits I have in my lifetime. I will say that when looking for an edge look at the JDM jerkbait market as fish have never saw them before. ratherbfishin1 Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 My favorite would be a lucky craft flash minnow. For some reason that thing gets BIT when no other jerk baits will. The LC Pointer is second place. 1 Quote

JoePhish Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 I'll fish a jerk bait all year round, not just in the colder months. The jerk bait I've caught the most fish on is the Zerek Sabre Dance 85 (Black Shad). Wish they were more readily available. X-Raps (XR10) come in second for me. The colors I've had the most success with are Silver and Bunker (saltwater color). Quote

Yes I have a few Rapala XRaps in the box...and your right they are a good lure....but I actually have more of the RCSTX by Luck E Strike than anything. 1 Quote

Allen I have a few of the Smithwick Rogue from back in the mid 90s. I never took to that lure very much, seemed like my casting distance wasn't so great and if I remember correctly, there wasn't an internal weight transfer system for improved casting. Have they changed the design since the mid 90s ? Quote

Have they changed the design since the mid 90s ? I don't think they have a weight transfer system but I have never had a problem casting them. They do make a suspending and floating model and the floating one is lighter. Floaters have different colored eyes (I will have to look it up but I think floaters have yellow eyes while SP baits are red) and smaller bills which is how you tell them apart. The other thing to look into is if you have a Ollie's store in your area. They sell stuff from stores that have closed and they were selling LC baits for like $7 2 weeks ago. Allen 1 Quote

smithy97 Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 The Duo Realis 110SP in Green Smelt, Duo Realis 100DR in Neo Pearl Megabass Vision 110, 110 Jr and 110+1. Top colours are GP Pro Perch, GP Pro Blue, and French Pearl. I just got my first 110+2 and have high hopes for it. The Duo is an amazing quality bait at a lower price than the MB. Casts amazing, quality sharp hooks, and a deeper rattle to it. That being said, the MB has an action all its own. 1 Quote

kayaking_kev Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 I have only used a few cheaper brands, Yo-Zuri, Lunkerhunt and Boyd Duckett, but I really like the action on the Boyd Duckett. The Yo-Zuri looks nice, but not a whole lot of action, and I like the rattles in the Lunkerhunt, but their not the best looking either, but both will catch fish. I have one Rapala Shadow Rap, but haven't used it yet, and I'm sure eventually I'll try some Vision 110's. I also might try to hit up my local Ollies again today and check out the LC lures, but last time I was there I didn't notice any jerkbaits from them, just some crankbaits. Quote

Let me start by saying I'm no jerkbait expert and don't fish them a ton. I generally use the 110 in cold shallow water. It doesn't run very deep but seems to suspend best in colder water. It's basically your standard shallow running, cold water suspending jerkbait. My favorite colors are Cell Mate, Old Glory and Natural Herring. I don't fish clear water so I usually go for colors that stand out well. 1 Quote
rtwvumtneer6 Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Jerkbait is a lure that I'm still very much experimenting with. I started a few years ago with rapala, which I like, but once I got my hands on some 3 hook baits, my school of thought is 3 is better than two, especially for the amount of "swipe" strikes I get. I bought a few of the Berkley Skinny Cutter 110, but I'm thinking about the Mcstick and Rattling Rogue. It's hard for me to justify $25 for a jerkbait, and I know if I go down that rabbit hole, there's probably no coming back ? Quote
NJBasstard Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 I don't fish floaters much. If I do it's usually a Smithwick. I have some Rapalas that were handed down 20 years ago but they're somewhat sentimental to me so I stopped fishing them before I end up losing them. My favorite suspending is by far the Lucky Craft Pointer 78 SP. That bait in the American Shad color has been the most productive jerkbait for me. Only problem is the amount of pickerel I catch on it outnumber the bass. Quote
