Lucky Craft Man Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Do you think bass will ever wise up and get sick of hitting Senko style lures? There was lake I fished for 3 days. On day 1, I found this small cove (no bigger then 150 feet long and 50 feet wide) and caught about 20 bass out of it with a green tiki stick. Day 2 of my fishing trip, I went straight back to that cove and caught over 35 bass with the same colored tiki stick. Day 3 came and I figured I must have exhausted that cove out, but I ended up catching close to 40 bass, again on the green tiki sitck. I find it hard to believe that there were over 95 bass in that cove; therefore, I must have caught a few fish twice in those three days. Senko's have been around for close to 10 years (I think) and they almost make fishing too easy (not that I am complaining). I'm just wondering, with more and more fisherman using this lure, will there be a time when Senkos will not longer produce like they have been the last 10 years? Quote
Super User RoLo Posted June 26, 2007 Super User Posted June 26, 2007 I don't know if fish will ever get sick of senkos, but I sure am...and I haven't fished but 2 weeks For me it's closer to 2 years, and remarkably there are no withdrawal symptoms ;D Roger Quote
George Welcome Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Let's see: spinner bait - chuck and wind C-rig - chuck and drag Jig - chuck and hop Crank bait - chuck and wind Seems all of the above are just about as boring as working a Senko: not so of course if you are on the fish and they happen to be biting your choice of the moment. To answer you question about bass becoming wise to baits. We are catching fish today with many of the same things that I was using 55 years ago. No, thank goodness bass just aren't that smart. 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 26, 2007 Super User Posted June 26, 2007 If you want to catch bigger bass, fish the 6" Senko. You will still catch some smaller fish, but it tends to discourage attack by many. I won't promise bigger bass, but I can guarantee your numbers will go down significantly. Most of my DD bass have been caught on this bait. Now, when you tire of catching 10 lb bass, it's probably time for another hobby! : Quote
basscat73 Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Do you think bass will ever wise up and get sick of hitting Senko style lures? No. Seems the "lowly" worm has been around since 1877 and they still kill that bait regularly to this day... http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/plastic_worm_fishing.html So, I don't think they'll wise up to senkos either. Thank goodness, bass ain't that smart. Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 26, 2007 Super User Posted June 26, 2007 Can 't get sick or bored on something that I seldomly fish with. Quote

I'm actually happy about the fact that I did well and I'm glad bass are stupid enough to keep hitting the same lure. I'm was just wondering it the gravy train would end (which it looks like it won't). Quote
Super User FishTank Posted June 26, 2007 Super User Posted June 26, 2007 I will never get sick of Senkos. They have renewed my love for bass fishing (among other things). I have used both the 5'' and 6'' but the 5'' has been the most successful for me. I also like the Yum Dingers but again the 5'' Senko has been the best. The 4'' Smoke Laminate Dinger in particular has been a secret weapon for me though. It is a dink magnet but it catches fish when the Senko seems to slow down. 1 Quote
Del from philly Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 its funny, it almost seems like some people have Personal resentment towards the senko.....lol i meen, people get weird when senkos are being discussed, and im not sure why seems like when i go to the local lakes, im the only one fishing them, so maybe im not sick of them because it hasnt been crammed down my mouth like some of you guys..... i dont see tho, how fishing a senko is anymore boring than fishing anything else? i meen, unless your gonna do a fast retrieve, its just a fun a bait as anything else...... maybe if you dont catch anything, but if your catching them on senkos, and yuou stil think its boring, than maybe fishing isnt the best hobby for you to enjoy Maybe this is wrong, maybe right, but i have a sneaking suspicion that the people who hate senkos are proabably not catching anything on them, and mad at the fact that they hear all the time how good they are, and havnt mastered them themselves........ that is the only reason i would get "sick of senkos" maybe not......lol also, try it weightless, and it makes fishing it a little funner, but im sure you already have i love them, werightless but i dont understand why it seems like 4" is the standard??? i will only go to 4" if the fishing is SLOW if not, than 5" is my everyday size, and even the 4" will catch some small guys sometimes....... volpster31 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 ive caught bass on the 7" & they kill this thing.... i guess the action is the same so an inch or 2 doesnt make any difference to the bass Quote
Brad_Coovert Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 When bass become conditioned to real food and ignore it, then they will start ignoring soft stickbaits. Brad Quote
