my dad has had this old bass boat in the garage for several years, and he's decided to let me sell it and get a new small aluminum boat for my first boat since i'm new to boating.  I believe its a '75 Caravelle, has a 50 hp evinrude, been garage kept for about 5 years, doesn't run (probally needs some engine tune-up), needs new battery, but other than that i believe it's pretty clean.

so my question is (drumrole please) how much do you think i can sell it for???????

Why sell it?? It looks like a perfect 1st boat for you, IMO. BTW: it is also a pretty nice looking and functional bass boat. Based on the year and if the trailer is in good shape as well,  I'd GUESS somewhere in the $1K - $1.5K range(??). Check for similar boats for sale on Craig's List and Ebay to get a better idea how much it's actually worth.

i can only guess that if you get a jon boat, you are going to put in a deck, add seats and so on. that boat there has everything you need for a nice bass getter, without all the labor involved. dude, keep THAT boat. if you are not used to handling a boat, go out with your dad a  few times, you'll get the hang of it pretty quick.

Keep it , put some money in the motor. There are probably a lot of guys that would trade you their smaller  aluminum boats for that baby if that's the way you want to go.

Is there any specific reason you want to get rid of an good first bass boat for a smaller cheaper boat ?

the more i look at your boat the more i like it. that is a great layout. youve got me looking on my local craigslist now for something similar. by the time you dump money into that motor and get it running, then sell it for a little profit, and then have to turn around and buy another boat and fix it up, i think you will have spent a bunch of money and have less of a boat

why sell that boat , i'd fix it and keep it, put a few hundred into it and go fishing.

thanks guys

...of course i'd keep it if it was up to me, but it's my old man's call :) maybe he'll have a change of heart

anyway, i was also thinking of the $1000 range

also, the trailer is pretty good, has a few rust spots but not major at all, and its a Dilly if that helps any.

thanks again

Okay, but I'm told I am quite pleasant to fish with. You can't put a price on a good fishin' buddy....

Good luck on selling the boat.
