War Eagles for me.

The 5/16 oz finesse has re-ignited my spinnerbait fishing game that I let fall by the wayside a while back in favor of swimjigs and chatterbaits. Sometimes there's just nothing better than a good spinnerbait bite.

I don't think I own any spinnerbaits that aren't War Eagle.  I realize this is an older post but for this time of year (fall) I have a lot of confidence in the Double Willow Screamin Eagle in 1/2 oz.  Little bit smaller profile and stays down well even at faster retrieve.

I saw the finesse 5/16 and thought about trying them.  Is it even smaller than the Screamin eagle?  What are the biggest difference you see?  I've not fished that particular blade combo.  Do you change blades, or fish it stock?

My issues with the WE is that the wire is fragile, the head comes loose

I noticed a loose head this past weekend.  I wedged and broke off a small piece of toothpick to snug it back up.  Although I wouldn't throw it in a tournament situation I'm going to fun fish with it and see how long it takes before total failure.  Otherwise, the wire is still in good shape.

Ive been using hand poured baits with blades robbed from other baits . I have caught a couple hundred bass on   1/2 ounce hand pours with Excalibur blades and Terminator skirt . Its time to transfer blades to a new bait . They only last for 50 to 100 fish before the arm breaks .

The Lucky Craft Skeet Reese Spinnerbait in baby bluegill has become one of my favorites to throw! I did really did well with it last year. I also like the Booyah Jason Christie spinnerbaits. They’re well made and run well right out of the package.

Mainly the War Eagle, but I bought a Gary Dobyns to try out.

Terminator Titaniums for this guy.  With the quantity of pike here, anything less gets demolished after a short period of time.  The titanium frame isn't bulletproof, but it lasts significantly longer than steel and doesn't bend out of shape.

Had a killer spinnerbait bite this week. I kind of wrecked the last two I had from catching fish. I had this in my box from a pike lake last year. My usual spinnerbaits are War Eagle and BooYah Counter Strike, but both got used up so I put on the BooYah Pikee and continued to clean up. It's got a pretty big blade but I still caught some 1.5lbers and up  to 5lbers on it. Anyone ever use this for bass? Waiting on a TW order of spinnerbaits.

Stanley wedge.  But I bought several from Seibert last fall and really like them as well.

1/2 oz Stanley vibrashaft double Colorado. The old one ,,, not the new one. The old one had tear drop/Indiana type wedge blade. Feels better than any spinnerbait I’ve used.

Of course they quit making it... lol

There is a significant difference in the effectiveness of a quality spinnerbait and a cheap one.  Wire diameter and blade plating are critical.   The best all around spinner bait in Florida is a Hildebrandt Okeechobee Special. The gold plating is far superior adding more flash at a slower speed.  The wire is thin, which makes the bait vibrate. Whatever it is that makes it work, this bait does it all.

Our bass don't chase, so you must trigger a strike.  Cadence is critical with spinnerbaits. Get it right and it's hard to beat.  I throw mine with a 5/1 casting reel, a Zoom plastic split tail and a trailer hook.  A trailer hook in our water is essential as bass often short strike.  I have fished with many anglers who use cheap spinnerbaits.  Their blades are dull, the wire is too thick and the hooks aren't sharp.   My Hidebrandt spinner baits out fish them three fish to one.  Unfortunately or fortunately, however you look at it, quality spinnerbaits are expensive and they don't last long because fish tear them up.   I think that's an advantage.  If they were cheap everyone would throw them and I would lose my advantage.  :>)
