Scrap Lead?

Here's a weird question - when I fish from the bank I have a habit of picking up lead (or other) weights that I find laying around to help keep the places I fish clean.  Some of the lead can be reused but most of it is basically scrap.  Other than throwing it in the trash to the landfill or finding someone local who melts lead into their own weights, anything else this stuff can be re-purposed for?

You can buy a cast iron liedel super cheap and a propane torch and melt them into “pigs”. Post them on Craigslist. Someone will buy them. I Used to be a plumber. I’d scrap lots of lead. Melt them in the liedel and sell them to a tackle shop, who turned around and gave them to his guy who poored weights for him.

Get   a mold and pour your own lures or sinkers .

I've known guys who pour their own bullets for muzzle loaders too.  Should be plenty of uses for old lead that are better than just dumping it in a landfill to leach into the groundwater.

I make redneck custom keel weighted hooks with mine on occasion. Also will pound some flat with a hammer and then thin cut sections with nail pullers for nail weights to insert into plastics.

 

 

You can also add a bit of weight to jigheads and such that you already have if your creative.

 

If you drop shot its pretty easy to make a usable weight with spare lead as well.
