RyalsCreek Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 I have a deep cycle battery and trolling motor and am curious about what charger to use. I have a standard auto battery charger a 2/10 I belive it's called. I remember hearing that it's best to only use a marine battery charger, specifically a marine multi-stage charger for deep cycle batteirs meant for trolling motors. If this is so, can anyone recommend a specific charger brand? thanks. Quote

B-Ass-Mad Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Any good charger with an auto shutoff will suffice; remember that trickle charging (around 2 AMPS) will help maintain your batteries condition better than a quick charge. I have seen suitable chargers in walmart but you could check Napa, Autozone etc Quote
tennwalkinghorse Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Slow charging is better then fast. To high a rate ie:to many amps for to long will cook the water out of the battery and could damage the plates inside. Auto charge w/shut off is best Black and Decker makes a nice unit Walmart about 30 bucks I think. Quote
